Advice for Repotting Large Dorstenia Gigas

Advice for Repotting Large Dorstenia Gigas

I’m looking for some advice in regard to repotting a large Gigas that I purchased a few months back. It’s currently in 8” W x 6.5” H plastic pot with a 6”W base. The base of the caudex is around 4”, and the plant is about 21”H to the tip of the tallest branch and 22”W between the two widest branches. I’m looking to move it into something slightly larger and nicer than what it’s currently in.

A few pieces of advice that would be helpful:

  1. Do yall recommend plastic or terracotta?
  2. Growing medium: I’ve got a lot to work with in terms of growing medium. I’ve got pumice, turface, well draining soil, crushed limestone, crushed oyster shells, decomposed granite, chunky coco coir, etc.

Any advice for ratios of medium to use and potting advice such as pot size, pot material, etc would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!

This is going to sound ridiculous, but back in May 2021, I was living in the Govalle neighborhood. We got rain for days and a ton of enormous earthworms were all over the street. I’ve never seen anything like it. Has anyone ever seen these before?

Size 12 shoes for reference. These things were easily 2+ feet long. I had no idea they got this size and they definitely weren’t the hammerhead worms.

I’m looking to buy myself a left handed putter for under $200. I typically shoot mid 90s and have been using an old Cleveland Huntington Beach Mallet for the past 4 years. It’s not bad, but not my favorite. I’m looking for a different mallet style putter that might help a little with my alignment and speed. I practice putting at least once a week at local courses with putting greens, but can’t stay consistent with my putter half of the time that I play.

I know that a putter won’t fix all of these issues and that practice is key, but I’d love to find something that I can stick with for the next few years. Open to buying a used putter as well, but used lefty putters seem harder to come across. Any recommendations?
