Stupid things that we do
Salutations, Commanders
With the new CG, there was a starport close to Lhou Mans with very cheap titanium. The Mandalay couldn't carry much, so I equipped my Anaconda with as many cargo racks as possible. Got there, didn't allow large ships.
So, I went ahead and bought, outfitted and engineered what was needed for a Type 8.
Four hundred tons per trip wasn't much profit.
So I purchased a Panther Clipper MkII. Transferred some modules from my Corvette, bought some others and engineered what was needed. Now this was profit! 49M per trip was great. Eventually titanium stock got depleted and I gave up. Hauled over 40 K tons. Out
Picked up my Mandalay and went looking for the famous Guardian Ruins to unlock the FSD and Shield boosters. Twice I returned to the tech broker to realise that I didn't bring enough materials.
Eventually got everyrhing I needed. Great!
Then started doing the weekly Power Play missions. The combat portions, Threat 3 with multiple ships, couldn't be done with the Mandalay. So I thought I'd pick up my vette from Ryman to do the fights.
But I needed a new FSD as mine was in the panther. Bought one 6A FSD. Engineered it but decided to go to Deciat to get the experimental effect. When I got there, realised that I couldn't do SCO... because I was distracted and bought a non-SCO FSD. Luckily in Deciat there was a port in a planet that had the 6A FSD SCO that I needed. When landing, failed the alignment and canceled supercruise and missed the glide. I just pointed down and was chatting with a colleague as the ship plummeted towards land.
I crashed the Corvette. 22 M rebuy + a new FSD + almost 3 M worth of cartography data from those trips to the guardian planets.
Then engineer the new drive.
The stupid things that we do when we're distracted. 😒
I guess I'll do a couple more Titanium runs after this to recover some of the losses
