Welcome to the Maasverse community reread discussion for House of Flame and Shadow!
Use this thread to share your thoughts, favourite moments, foreshadowing, theories, or reactions during your reread.
Reminder: Read at your own pace and jump into the discussion whenever you reach this book!
First and foremost, ❤️ costs nothing ❤️. It is also one of our sub rules. Any comments that are deemed as unkind, will be deleted without warning.
❌ This is not the space for other shippers to come here and try to diss, overtly or subtly, Bryceriel (the ship) or Bryceriels (my babies). You will be banned permanently. I check everyone's post history that comments here. This is a safe place for Bryceriels, since y'all can't contain your hatred and negativity (go touch grass, besties).
Rules (Sub rules still apply):
❌NO singling out individuals: No usernames, no names, nothing. You can say "An elriel said, a gwynriel said"...that's it.
❌ NO name-calling.
❌Screenshots are allowed but must not reveal sub names or usernames. There will be no doxxing or direct call-outs of any individuals, and all personal info must be cropped or blurred out. Posts and comments with names included will be removed immediately.
❌ANY comment we deem (as a team) can be removed, even if it doesn't "break a rule".
This monthly post is all about venting and airing grievances about fandom toxicity, theories, characters you don’t like, etc. Need to bitch? Do it. Gotta vent about Hunt’s toe suckling? Go for it. Want to talk about those touchy subjects banned everywhere else? Sit down and spill the tea, the Suriel would be proud. :tea:
(Jarvis, thank you for the fun description).
Just remember, the basement dwellers that lurk to downvote within minutes of a post going live ARE looking at this post. They WILL screenshot things that are said (because they are hypocrites) and continue to bully and harass us.
This says more about THEM than it does about US.
🧱 Alright, let them bricks fly baddies!

Here is our subreddit plan to hopefully allow the most enjoyable reading experience while minimizing the chaos! If you'd rather avoid any and all spoilers, we recommend muting our subreddit, and others, for 1-2 weeks before release (maybe even earlier) until you're caught up.
1. LEAKS
Once advance leaks seem legit, we'll start requiring all posts be approved by mods. For those who want to discuss leaks, we'll have a megathread specifically dedicated, but enter at your own risk.
2. FREEZE ON NEW POSTS
New posts made two days before release (or earlier if book leaks) will require mod approval. Members will not be able to make new posts for two days after the release date (using first time zone, UTC+14:00).
3. MEGATHREADS
During this freeze on new posts, we'll be directing all discussion to megathreads. We'll have megathreads for advance leaks, chapter discussions, and fandom venting. Spoiler tags on comments will NOT be required. Again, enter at your own risk!
4. RESUMING POSTS
After our two day freeze on new posts, members will be able to post like normal BUT will need to use spoiler flairs for posts and avoid any spoilers in post titles for two weeks after ACOSH release and one month after ACOFM. Members will NOT need to spoiler tag individual comments.
Engage at your own risk! And please DM the mods or report any suspect behavior.
Hi, baddies! 🖤
As you know, we’re a spoiler-friendly sub, and we’ve never required spoiler tags for anything before. With the upcoming releases, though, we’re discussing what would be the best course of action for everyone.
Requiring hidden spoiler text for every single comment would be a lot of work — both for members having to use it and for us to moderate. At the same time, we don’t want anyone’s reading experience ruined simply because they have a different reading pace or preference.
So rather than assuming what everyone would prefer, we wanted to hear from you! 🫶
Below are some ideas we’ve discussed, but these aren’t the only options. Please vote for the one you’d prefer and feel free to share other suggestions or ideas in the comments.
We’ll take everyone’s feedback into consideration when deciding how to handle spoilers for the upcoming releases. 🧚🏼✨🌙

We are launching: Fashion Fridays! 💅🏼✨
We’re creating a space for our supermagical fancy Starborn community to talk about fashion, beauty, and self-care, all inspired by our very own fashion icon, Bryce Quinlan! ✨
Saw an outfit that Bryce (or Lidia) would totally wear? Found a Dusky-inspired manicure you want to show off? Have a hot date coming up and need opinions on the perfect outfit? Fashion Friday is the place to share it! 💖
We love how engaging, welcoming, and friendly this community has become, so we wanted to create a special day where we can ✨light it up✨ that connection even more and have some fun together at the end of each week with our baddies.
So bring your outfits, nail inspo, beauty finds, self-care tips, fashion hot takes, and anything else that feels very Bryce (or Azriel) coded.
Let’s get fancy! 💅🏼✨
Happy Friday, dusk-girly pops! 💖💜💙

🚨Quick Mod Note! 🚨
Hi fellow baddies!
We're as excited as everyone else about upcoming releases, but we're going to be removing posts about vague leaks, rumors, or unsubstantiated claims that don't come from a credible source.
Part of the reason for this is what happened with HOFAS, when the entire book leaked online about two weeks before release. That leak ended up taking a lot of the excitement and anticipation out of the lead-up for many readers, and we'd rather not see the sub filled with unsupported rumors in the meantime.
Keep the theories coming, but if you're sharing leak info, please make sure it comes from a source that can actually be verified. Thanks for your understanding! 🖤✨
Kosher Dill is coming!
It’s unavailable for purchase until December (after ACOTAR 6)! Interesting 😏✴️
“Styled in the tradition of classical paintings, the artwork gathers powerful objects and symbolic elements from the series into a single, atmospheric composition. Hidden details, layered references, and ACOTAR™ Easter eggs reward close attention as the image comes together piece by piece.”

“Perhaps the players in our unfinished game will be different…”
“What if … I don’t know. What if there’s a knife out there for me? But beyond that, what’s Urd playing at? Or is it Luna? What’s the end goal?”
“You think the gods have something to do with all this?”
“After this spring, I can’t help but wonder if there is something out there. Guiding all this. If there’s some game afoot that’s … I don’t know. Bigger than anything we can grasp.”
Dusk is a gateway between worlds—the liminal space where the veil thins, paths converge and what was scattered may finally reunite. At twilight, the old stories end. New legends begin.
Welcome to Twilight of the Gods.
