Greetings all, M/51 in Ohio here. My marriage has been an unhappy one for a long time, and I am at the beginning stages of investigating what a divorce would look like. Specifically, we own our home. We have been paying for 7 years, and the real estate market has been good to us in our area, so it is far from paid off but there is a decent amount of equity. Both my parents cosigned on the house for us, so all four of our names appear on the mortgage. My mother passed away in 2024, so the remaining three are myself, my wife, and my father. How would my father being a cosigner affect a decision on how the house is divvied up in our situation? We have an eight-year-old daughter together, and her income is twice mine. Thanks in advance!
