Just moved to Long Beach, CA what BJJ gyms do people actually recommend around here?

New to the Long Beach area and trying to find a solid BJJ gym nearby.

Looking for a place with:
- good instruction
- competitive but not toxic culture
- solid evening classes
- welcoming to newer people
- hard rolls without ego
- decent value for the price

Would rather hear real experiences instead of just Google reviews or “my gym is the best” replies.

Would moving from a Wealth Management Associate/CSA role to Chase Private Client Advisor be considered an upgrade or downgrade?

Currently in a WM/CSA-type role and debating moving into a Chase PCA position.

I already know going from WM into a normal retail banker/FSA role at BofA would probably be seen as a downgrade, but PCA seems more gray area because of the sales/advisor path and income potential.

For people who’ve worked in JPM branches or wealth management:
-Is PCA actually a good career move?
-Better long-term ceiling or no?
-More respected internally than regular retail banking?
-Or is it just more pressure with a nicer title?

Curious what people in the industry honestly think.

Deep tissue vs flushing massage for BJJ recovery? What else should I add?

28M training BJJ 3x/week + lifting 2x/week. I’m also trying to add cardio after sessions when I can, but sometimes I’m just too smoked.

Question for the people training consistently: after a hard BJJ session, do you prefer deep tissue massage or more of a flushing/sports recovery massage?

I’m debating between a 90-minute deep tissue vs a lighter recovery-focused session. I want to recover better, stay healthy long term, and still perform well , not just feel destroyed for no reason.

Also, what recovery stuff has actually helped you the most besides sleep and nutrition?

Things I’ve looked into:
- Sauna
- Cold plunge
- Stretching/mobility
- Massage gun
- Compression boots
- Yoga
- Electrolytes
-Cold Plunge

Anything you guys swear by for longevity and being able to train consistently?

Is it better long term to train BJJ 4x/week plus lift/conditioning 2x/week, or BJJ 3x/week plus lift/conditioning 2x/week if cardio/recovery are your weak points?

Context: newer blue belt with about 2.5 years training, late 20s, already fairly strong/muscular, but cardio is probably my biggest weakness right now.

I also work full time, so I’m trying to balance:
-skill development
-conditioning
-recovery
-injury prevention
-avoiding burnout long term

Part of me feels like more mat time is always better, but another part of me feels like replacing 1 BJJ session with dedicated lifting + conditioning might actually improve my overall performance more.

Curious what ended up working best for more experience people.

Blue belt training 3x/week, how often should I do drop-ins at other gyms without hurting development at my home gym? And for the drop in is it better to rotate different gyms or stick with one consistent secondary gym?

I also lift and do conditioning/cardio twice a week on the side.

Right now I’m trying to balance:
\- staying consistent with my home gym’s system
\- getting exposure to different styles/training partners through drop-ins
\- avoiding burnout from doing too much

If I do a drop-in, it usually means:
\- 2 sessions at my home gym
\- 1 session at another gym that week

For the more experienced people here:
\- How often do you think drop-ins are actually ideal? Weekly? Every other week? Once a month?
\- Is it better to rotate different gyms, or stick with one consistent secondary gym?
\- At blue belt, can too many drop-ins actually slow development by making your game too scattered?

My goal isn’t to gym-hop, I still want my home gym to be my main base but I also don’t want to get too comfortable only training the same people/styles.

(For clarification: by “drop-in” I mean occasionally attending a class at another gym using punch passes/day passes, not fully switching gyms.)
