Help with cycling

Hello. I had a 5 yo tank which suddenly had a massive no3 increase and no matter what I did I couldn’t fix it so I ended up taking it apart and starting a new scape and everything from cero. It’s been two weeks now, I added bacteria from other thanks and everything.

I did some tests today and found this. Is this concentration normal when cycling or is my tank just contaminated?

(Readings are 0,3 nh4, 1mg/l no2 and 50mg/l no3.

When cycling my other tanks I don’t remember having this high value of no3? Please help me.

Sorry in advance if my English is incorrect!!

I will never own another male betta💔

I’m so heartbroken, I’ve had my male betta for half a year. After some time he started developing fin rot, it got really bad but these days he recovered and was regrowing his tail. Now I’ve realized he has started to pinecone. In my lfs they told me it was impossible to cure even tho he’s just starting, and that they did not have any medicine for that. Most of the ones Reddit users recommended me are not available in my country or it has been discontinued (like sera’s baktopur). I’ve managed to find some but it won’t arrive for 3 days at least. I really tried everything and was so in love with my fish. He’s still alive but u don’t know if he will be when the package arrives… for now at least he’s eating which I’ve read is a good sign.

I’m just writing to vent, I feel like there’s nothing I could have done but I know it’s also my fault, even tho I don’t know what happened or what I did wrong. I’m just hoping I somehow can cure him even when they told me just to euthanize them “down the wc”.

Here some pics of my boy, Kirk (I know hahaha) before fin rot and during it (rn his fins are a lil worse but regrowing and ofc pineconing a lil) . I’m sorry my little one I’ll still try…

Hello everyone.

I have had tanks since 10yo, (now 18) but only with fish, shrimp or dwarf frogs. My mother is a marine biologist obsessed with animals and has always wanted an axolotl. Last time I went to the fish store to get some plants for my new cycling 31L tank she mentioned getting one axolotl there. I know that’s too small and it needs to be cycled so o obviously said no, but she was so happy I’m considering buying a big tank, cycling it and later getting her an axolotl. I’ve read some info about them and they do seem like pretty sensitive animals so I assume I would take care of it until she learns how to.

She has saved lots of marine animals, even dolphins, so I know she can take care on an axolotl but I just wanted to get some advice from experts. Also I don’t really trust AI which told me they can be pretty easy. So, are they really that difficult? The most difficult pet I’ve had (in tanks) were maybe bettas or the frogs but I think I may have enough experience with tanks. What would u recommend?

Thank you for you time!
