CAT S22 Flip Problems - anyone found solutions?

Hey folks,

I've been using the CAT S22 Flip since January 2025. I switched so I could reduce my use of social media while still maintaining the convenient aspects of a smart phone, particularly maps. I've been grateful for the huge reduction in my screentime while out of the house, and I have a lot of affection for this phone overall, but I am finding it increasingly hard to continue with the S22 Flip.

The good stuff:

  • Works decent enough for listening to music while commuting or driving
  • Works decently well for looking up directions when needed (although very laggy)
  • Reliably sends and receives texts and messages on WhatsApp and Signal

The bad stuff:

  • Voice calls only work on speaker phone or with headphones (this started less than a year into using it)
  • Keystrokes cause double, triple, or even quadruple numbers / letters while typing (this started within a few months but has only gotten worse)

I am going to become a parent this fall. I don't think I can continue to use this rather unreliable phone as my wife's due date approaches, and I think it will be even more important to be accessible by phone once my child arrives. I am considering switching back to a smartphone...

Anyone have solutions for these issues? Would it be worth resetting this phone or buying a new S22 and setting it up differently?

Otherwise - any recommendations on a more reliable phone with similar features? Would love to keep the cost low so I'm considering buying an older Android phone that is still supported, and just adding the few apps I'm used to having on my CAT...
