How do you heat your batching ice dye projects?

I’m losing all my blues and greens down the drain, and I’m pretty sure they just aren’t batching hot enough for long enough. As the weather is cooling off and I’m not able to just rely on the scorching summer sun to do the work for me, I’m trying to find new methods of heat so I can keep dying into the winter months. I’m not real big on the idea of heating a room to 90° for 24-48 hours and paying a crazy utility bill. Seeking advice from folks, what do you do to get your pieces thoroughly batched? I’ve heard of oven heating but only if you have a designated oven for dyes, which isn’t really an option for me. I’m thinking about maybe a few crockpots but atm the goodwill bins are sending all the inserts (the glass or ceramic bowl) across the state 🤦‍♀️. Am I missing some great hacks or something useful? Have heard of heat lamps and seed mats as well. Thanks in advance, dye hard folks! 😝💚🦋

Strawberry Skies Ice Dye

Really love the way this turned out! I’m brand new to ice dying (one week now!) and Procion style dyes. This was rolled, DUI, Strawberry Skies from Happy Cat Tie Dye. I have to invest in some Synthropol and do a full wash load so I can steam this piece and get proper pics of it but too anxious to share ☺️

Systane Complete PF Burned Like Hell for 30 hrs

I will preemptively say that just because they didn’t work for me, that is not to say that they don’t work for most people that try them.

Last week was a really bad eye week. I have low oil production chronic dry eye but haven’t tried any oil based drops so I researched popular brands and picked up the Systane Complete PF drops. I put them in at work the next day and my eye started to burn. It didn’t immediately sting upon applying but the burn grew over time and was pretty painful. The next day it continued to hurt. I cried at work, I barely made it through the day, and went to urgent care immediately afterwards. I had been in severe pain for over 24 hours by that point. I could feel burning and aching around the entire globe of my eye. The urgent care physician said she couldn’t see anything wrong but that I was probably allergic to something in them. She prescribed me steroids but I ended up not taking them as I woke up the next day with some relief. I was given a referral to an ophthalmologist who said I should try a Refresh drop and stay away from Systane products. I’m terrified of causing that pain again but I need to get relief of this dry eye as well. I included a SS of a website with a collection of reviews for Systane which are largely negative. I realize most ppl leaving reviews are doing so because of a negative experience so I’m skeptical but I do find it interesting, and at the very least comforting to know I’m not alone in my experience.

Humidifier Recs?

Just met with the ophthalmologist and she recommended I get a humidifier (along with omegas, which I take, and a dry hot compress). It’s definitely very dry where I live and the fans and AC of summer are NOT helping my already chronic dry eye. I’d like to get one with a large capacity/long runtime, that runs cool, and maybe even control with an app on my phone if that’s worth it? Anyone have recommendations or suggestions on what to look for? Anything I should avoid? Pic of me in my Stoggles outside the eye doctor’s office today.
