Does anyone know specifically why WotC will not include slavery in the new books?

I’ve seen several interviews and dungeontubers say something to the effect of “slavery is controversial and is therefore excluded from Dark Sun 5.5e published material” in various posts. “Controversial” means there is public disagreement, argument, or strong opposing opinions about it. Slavery in the real world has existed in many societies across the entirety of human history, and it still exists today in some places. But it’s not like there’s disagreement about how it’s an immoral, vile, evil practice that should not be tolerated. That is, “slavery” is not really controversial; there isn’t an ongoing debate (beyond a few fringe knuckle-dragging, rebel flag flying idiots). Slavery is clearly evil and slavers seem like obvious enemies for PCs to oppose in a ttrpgs. Can anyone explain why “controversial” means that the topic must be excluded, and if a topic is truly controversial, why isn’t the “mature content” label sufficient to ensure people who might be offended by controversial content stay away from it?

It’s crazy expensive to have all the streaming services needed to watch all the games

I live in rural Maine and I’ve been trying to figure out how I can watch all the Cowboys games this upcoming season. Here’s the breakdown:

YouTube NFL Sunday Ticket $186 / month to get all of the Sunday afternoon out-of-market games Weeks 2-4, 8-12, 15, and 17

Amazon Prime Video $15 / month to get Thursday Night Football game Week 5

ESPN Unlimited $30 / month to get Monday Night Football games Week 7 and 13

Peacock $11 / month to get Sunday Night Football games Weeks 1 and 6

It’s not clear about Week 16, maybe Peacock but maybe YouTube. And Week 18 is TBD.

I have Amazon Prime already but the rest I would need to add. So I’m looking at spending something like $225 a month for 4 months to watch my team, so almost $1000

An antenna isn’t an option due to weak signal strength. Anyone have recommendations or a better plan?

Kir Sabal battlemap was difficult to use

I have the digital copy of ToA on D&D Beyond. My group recently went to Kir Sabal. For the role playing bits the map was fine but for the combat encounter, that map sucks hard. I ended up using an improvised combination of battlemap + theater-of-the-mind to get through it. I’m a little chapped that it didn’t occur to me ahead of time but honestly I didn’t really think it through until we were playing. Note to self, do more prep for these digital assets…How much do the digital assets from WotC reduce (or increase) your prep time?

Time limit on Reincarnate spell?

The OSE SRD description of the Reincarnate spell does not include a limit on how long the deceased has been dead. It also implies that no remains are needed. In contrast, a Raise Dead spell is limited to a number of days based on level, and the spell implies that a body is needed. In fairness, neither spell is clear about whether any remains are needed. However, this means that RAW an 11th level magic-user would potentially be able to reincarnate anyone from history in their lab just for giggles.

Are these differences oversights or intentional differences in these two spells?

Which REH story do you most want to see on film?

If I were King of Conan IP I would give a few different creative teams and have each of them create animated film versions of the original REH stories as faithfully to the written text as possible. If you could produce one animated Conan film faithfully based in one REH story, which one would you choose?

Why do employers want a resume and also the same information filled out in a different form?

Maybe one of the HR people can explain this, but why in the heck do employers want me to upload a resume, provide a link to LinkedIn profile, AND fill out a company form when all three of these have the exact same damn information?? Explain it to me like I’m five.

Jumped on for a few minutes this morning to do my usual daily bounties before work. Three of these freaking squads showed up before I even got to the first bounty. I don’t really mind when one shows up but three in a row is just stupid. They were literally pouring out of the door like rats abandoning ship.

Rant over

▲ 65 r/dice

Some of these have been with me for decades. This is the first time I’ve organized them and I’m sort of shocked at how many are simply missing. I have no idea where the missing dice could have gone but I hope they are with someone who still throws them once in a while.
