What is your Earliest WFAN Memory?

I used to bring my Walkman to bed and I vividly remember hearing the overnight host talk about Sugar Ray Robinson’s death. April 1989.

I thought it was Sugar Ray Leonard, who I was aware of at first. So that night was my intro and education on Ray Robinson (and in turn Jake LaMotta).

Help me Build a Day around the 10/10 Jack White concert at The Truth

Good buddy is in town for the first time in 4 years to see JW3. His wife has been ill, rare getaway for him. Want to make his day here a ton of fun.

He’s a foodie, like cocktails, music lover and I’m a dad who doesn’t get out as much as I’d like and definitely don’t know the city as well as I should.

To give you a frame of reference, last time he was in town was also for JW3 and we did Eastside Bahn Mi, Duke’s, Pharmacy, Butcher & Bee, Grimey’s, and hit Broadway on a Sunday morning.

He gets in that Saturday AM and is out that Sunday afternoon, so a little over 24 hours here. Base camp will be The Westin.

I’m always amazed when I see posts of how people have their ideal days nailed down, it’s great to see the pride folks have making the scene here.

Saying thank you in advance for the suggestions.

Can we Chubby FIRE in 10 years? $2.5M NW in MCOL

$2.5 NW

Me: 46 in Sales, w/ ~400k job
Spouse: 44 in Sales, w/ ~300k job

Combined 401ks: ~700k
Combined Roth IRAs:  ~500k
Trust: ~625k
Real Estate: 1M (370k mortgage, 15Y at 5%)
Savings Account: 65k
529s: ~900k
Unvested RSUs: ~80k (vesting over 4 years)
Current Expenses: ~180k
2 kids (middle school age)

We live downtown in a higher end MCOL city, in a state w/ no income tax.

Currently sending kids to private school, at $60-$70k a year total for both children. We are not planning to do this further after the next year, opting to go the public school route and investing those dollars towards ER.

However, this will require us to move to the suburbs. We do not love the state where we live, but do like our house and we are within 30 min of family. Not against moving, but leaving the state likely means landing somewhere with a higher cost of living.

We put $2k a month into our portfolio (while also maxing out our 401ks). Occasionally we’ll put variable comp payouts towards investments as well. When our RSUs vest, we cash them and move the money into our larger portfolio to diversify.

We value experiences, travel, eating out, and proximity to city life. No passive income, no rental properties, we are working class. We are comfortable and hoping to stay that way.
