gonna remake my green hikers on the munson last
next project after the hi tops.
just a cool pic. im feeling proud. ill leave it here.
resoled my red boots
ordered some ACTUAL sole bend cuts a bit ago and decided to upgrade my fourth pair. they were impressive at the time, but had some issues. mainly and most noticeably my inseaming thread was a bit thick and on long days id start to feel the stitching under the outer ball of my right foot, so i swapped the thread to something more flush during the resole. i redid the heel stack with better leather and nailed it this time. i did screws from the inside last time because i didnt and still dont have a supply of clinch nails, and i couldnt nail from the inside out because the space is limited. since then i purchased a long brad driver (its a tube with a handled rod that you put nails in and drive them into tight spaces) it works better than screws, but it prefers wire brads to flat heads i think, and had a tendency to bend them, but i got it figured out. i filled out the area between the shank and the midsole with cork this time as well. looks much nicer and might add a bit more rigidity too. reused the 2332 forefoot sole just because it barely had any wear and seemed a shame to waste, stitched through it this time though. chucked the 2332 heel toppies in lieu of some "ITALY" toppies.. idk.. because the 2332s were so small in the first place (seriously vibram, stock some larger heel pieces.. GOD) that last time a packer heel was the only option. its bonafide this time... i think thats it.
anybody here ever thought of doing this and or done it?
ar8s are sloppy in the ankle so im thinking i might do some surgery. im seeing a few cracks between the outsole and midsole, so probably gonna be due for a resole soon enough anyway. thatd be my chance to open them up.
Im dyin over here. any tips?
ive never had this much trouble keeping my lines consistent since like my first pair of shoes. im using a shoe patcher which usually gives good results, but i guess it just hates canvas as the presser foot doesnt grip the material as well as leather. oddly enough, the wrong side stitching looks better than right side which might point to what i need to do next, but id like to know if theres any other tricks that might help here?
thoughts on the color scheme and stitching?
im making another pair from scratch, just altered a stock picture of chucks because thats the style im making. only difference is maybe sole height, no patch obviously, and there will only be six eyelets.
