Just kidding. It's been awhile since one of those clicking alignment markers = defects questions.
While you're here though, enjoy.
These are Bronco BFARs from the initial release of the Bronco leather about 18 months ago. They've been conditioned twice in that time. Conditioner darkens em, then they slowly lighten back up as the months pass.
They only get worn around 6-8 times per month.
Sole pics to show wear. The design of the BFAR makes you not drag your heels as much as shoes with thicker soles.
I wonder what the next pair will be? Where am I going to hide all these? So many questions.
The crazy difference between these boots is so fun to experience. One pair are light, supple slippers (out of the box) and the others are double armored, military grade demo tools.
The Vellies don't even feel like a break in is an actual thing - the 719s are staunchly resisting after a month of effort.
Have fun out there JGers
I loved the AnatomX BFARs in Bronco so much that I went and purchased a custom pair. I went with 2 leathers, Buffalo and Rough Out Buffalo. I haven't worn them yet. There's going to be a very minimal break-in period. The Buffalo leather is super soft. I really like how they turned out.
1 month wearing these rugged African troopers daily
Absolutely love the boot, very comfortable, but disappointing that the sole is starting to peel already
$450 au dollars, I expected a little better durability
Got a pair of custom shoelies off eBay, leather midsole, natural crepe sole, rough out leather. Beautiful shoes. Normally have super feet greens in everything but these fit a little loose around the top by the ankles with insoles in, lots of heel slip, so I decided to try them on with no insoles. The fit is now soooo much better, heel slip is pretty much gone as I can get the top to close up better. Seemed a little weird. I have other regular shoelies that are fine with the SG’s in them. These it seems the SFG heel is just too tall, and I get that gap just under than ankles, but my feet love that arch support as I’ve had tendons tear in both feet and the arches collapse. Anyone here with flatter feet just raw doggin’ some JG’s with no insoles? I keep seeing how they will “mold to your feet” .. well how much molding are we talking about here? Will I get a little arch support eventually? And how long before it does it? Thought about adding a plain leather insole as well or maybe a thin foam one while it’s molding. These are not really a daily wear shoe so I can suffer a little discomfort for the short periods I’m wearing them but would rather not.. OR.. would having a collar added or something else help with that loose top issue? Seen the pinched vellies in another post..
273 pairs of AR8’s arrive at the Addo Elephant National Park🐘
Just outside Gqeberha, Addo was founded in 1931 to save the last elephants in the region and has grown into South Africa’s third largest and one of its most ambitious national parks. More than 600 elephants roam its valleys, but the park’s significance stretches far beyond their famous grey giants.💪
Today the park protects and spans five biomes, the rangers walk 10–25 km daily through thick bush, rocky terrain and harsh weather all while removing snares, tracking poachers and protecting wildlife.😇
Comfort = better patrols = stronger conservation this is achieved with their Jim Green boots on foot that can handle Addo’s tough, demanding grounds 🏜️
“The reason I joined is for the love of nature and to protect these animals for future generations.” A few words from Elvis Shabangu who has 25 years of service at the park.🫡

Wearing my new Razorbacks. Very pleased with them. They did give me a blister on my heel which was annoying. I’m hoping this goes away with time.
Got these a month ago and would say they are now pretty much broken in. I thought the bronco would be tougher, but having inly be single lasted made it fairly soft. When I first posted them someone wanted to see how the toe looked broken in since there is no toe puff, so I thought I would update. As you can see it has collapsed a bit, but I like how it looks and I don't mind the feeling. I think the lack of toe puff makes them look sleeker than my numzaans (also ASHM).
Super happy with them, really glad the clicking was so nice because my numzaans have kind of loose grain in one toe crease, which is pretty ugly.
Got these a few months ago and have worn them ~5 times. They don't quite work for my foot shape so I'm hoping to pass them along. I conditioned them with some Redback leather conditioner and they're in great shape. The tongue is trained in the W shape. The grain is looser on one of the boots but that should even out as they break in.
Preference for paypal goods and services for payment so we're both protected, and shipping charge will be whatever the cheapest USPS option is - should be around $15. I'm in Oregon and can ship within the US. Will ship in the original Jim Green box. Feel free to ask questions and I can take more pics if needed.
I've worn these almost daily for over a year but now the soles are starting to peel off, what glue is best to fix them?
I currently own a pair of timberland pros and they’re a size 8.5 and the fig is great
Just did my first hike on Sunday in my new razor backs and man oh man were my feet comfy! Prior to the hike I gave them a rub down with JGs leather balm. The boots were subject to mud, rain and snow. Now that im home I would like to clean out the threading of the sole but a tooth brush i find just isn't solid enough to dislodge the dirt and mud. Any tips? Also any suggestions what the black lines are above the sole? I was thinking maybe just a build up of wax but im not entirely sure. It is only on the one boot as well, not both
So i bought my ARs 2 weeks ago and i've been loving it until and my problem has been that I sweat a lot from my feet, I use it for at least 5 hours a day, every day and I live in a city with a lot of humidity. Then one day I was cleaning until I touched the inside of the toe of the cap, it was very wet and the water I touched smelled horrible, the rest inside was fresh. So I thought about using foot powder and I started doing it a week ago, I would finish using it at the end of the day, clean it and then apply the powder until using it the next day. The bad thing is that today when I was walking I felt a tooth on my big toe out of nowhere and that is what you see in the image, it seems that the talcum powder dried the leather and therefore ended up cracking it. Has this happened to you? And is there any way to solve the wet and smell of the cap toe?
I bought these 719 veg tans about 6 months ago and have absolutely loved them until they started squeaking a few weeks ago. I spent a lot of time wearing them in harsh field conditions, below freezing temps, stream crossings, and lot of steep climbing so they did get pretty dried out. I oiled them a few days ago thinking it might help but it doesn’t seem like it made much of a difference. They still function fine, it’s just really annoying and it makes me think twice about wearing them now. I’m not very experienced with full leather boots so any tips to minimize the noise would be appreciated.
Hello!
I was looking at investing in a proper boot and not sure which of the jim greens would be my best choice. I do have a worry about the width of the lasts they use. I have high arches and instep as well as B width. I would prefer the extra height and ankle stability as well as a sturdy lug for winter. Thanks!
I bought these new just a few months ago. Wore them about five times just started the break-in. Ended up ordering some 719 customs. Decided to let these go. US shipping and PayPal only. $170
I'm trying to decide which of these boots to buy, I think the African Rangers would very slightly suit my lifestyle more, being single lasted and lower cut, but I think the 719s look a bit more classic.
I do prefer shoes that stop at the ankle, but I also have Razorbacks in the JG last so I'm used to a bit higher boots, too, and given that these are barefoot boots I'm considering, I'm expecting them to be a bit more flexible, even considering the double last and extra height of the 719s.
Both I'm looking at are in the Bronco leather.
Another thing is that these 719s might be a limited edition that never gets repeated, although I expect they will be popular as there are very few classic looking and well built barefoot boots, and even fewer at reasonable price points like these.
Hi everyone,
I've been wearing barefoot African troopers slowly over the past 6 months and I've gotten to the point where I can wear them all day, but because I walk and stand on concrete a lot, I'm looking to get a tiny bit more impact resistance in the form on insoles, but I could maybe also get a cobbler to add eva foam between the resin runner and outsole.
Does anyone have recommendations for zero drop impact resistance insoles that aren't too thick for the low toe box profile of the troopers?
Does anyone have recommendations of what kind of material a cobbler can add between the outsole and resin runner and how thick it should be?
Thanks for your suggestions!
