Little notch missing out of toe cap. Defect?

Just kidding. It's been awhile since one of those clicking alignment markers = defects questions.

While you're here though, enjoy.

These are Bronco BFARs from the initial release of the Bronco leather about 18 months ago. They've been conditioned twice in that time. Conditioner darkens em, then they slowly lighten back up as the months pass.

They only get worn around 6-8 times per month.

Sole pics to show wear. The design of the BFAR makes you not drag your heels as much as shoes with thicker soles.

General Observations about ASHM and fiberboard midsole

Received my first pair of Jim Greens in Oct of 2024. In the last 18 months I've spent WAY more time than I should here on the JG sub.

In that 18 months it seems like, generally speaking, we don't like ASHM last, and we don't like the fiber board midsole. Sure there is the occasional comment about someone with narrow feet or an outlier that likes the fiber board for the weight savings, but the general consensus about the ASHM last and the fiber board insole appears to be....no thanks.

While I've not had a lot of purchasing restraint when it comes to JGs footware, the ASHM and/or the fiberboard midsole have been the most common reasons why I've not purchased a particular shoe. Have had more than a couple come up for sale that I would have bought, were it not for one of those two details. (almost used the word "features" there, but don't consider either to be positive attributes that could carry over into the "feature" category).

These are minda interesting.

In the specs it says that toe, heal, and eyelet are buffalo "for durability." A good idea me-thinks. And I'm guessing the rest are the mocha dyed kudu.

From what I can tell, they have that blasted poly midsole though. I was considering clicking that preorder button til I saw that they don't seem to have a leather midsole.

I've only had my Houston Brown Meanders since January but decided to hit them with some Renapur. For now, keeping the nubuck look and wanted to get them conditioned before any stains set in. Did the same thing with one of my fudge pairs of BFARS a while back and have been happy with the results.

I've read lots of comments about leaks around the moc two stitching. Granted I choose my non-nubuck boot options on wet days, but I've yet to have the leaky toe situation with my JG moc toes that I've read others discuss.

The short little video is during the one and only Renapur application I've given them. It ran down the tongue and created a couple beads inside the moc toes stitching dam. That bead of Renapur is doing exactly what I like to see, no entry.

Of seven pairs of JGs, across four models and five leathers, the only pair I've had my feet get even slightly damp in, is the only pair with the fiber board midsole-and that's capillary action from underneath. My other 6 pairs are leather midsoles, and nary a drop of any dew/snow/rain/irrigation/etc has gotten to my feet in them.
