I want to change the fork to the 170mm travel valving on the fox 38 fork. Has anyone changed the rear shock to coil to get a longer stroke but not too much stroke to cause tire rubbing.
Im 5'7 170 pounds.
I bought my FTR in April and ive already put on 3000 miles on the bike. I came from a 26 Scout Bobber tech package to my FTR. I have a somewhat messed up back and I can ride my FTR far more comfortably than I could my Scout.

I am not very tall at 5 foot 7 so I do look a bit like a little kid at stop lights putting both feet down on the ground so I usually just lean to one side and put my right foot on the brake at stop lights.

The FTR is a TON of fun but I have to give credit to the 26 scout as I feel they're pretty comparable in straight line speed.

I live in Colorado and I spend all the time I can taking my FTR up the canyons and high altitude passes. I do have to be fairly cognizant of my range between passes because of the small tank. Which isn't much different than my cars because they also get bad gas mileage, so im used to it.

So far I have changed to the saddleman seat and I do feel its a slight improvement but not really spectacular. I took off the stock baffles and kept the factory Y pipe to put on some unbaffled tips. I want to do a catless tune but i've been having too much fun with the bike that I dont want any downtime, so my cheapo exhaust will do for now.

I really love my FTR and I cannot state that enough. The thing that makes it difficult about owning it, is that there is nothing to really replace it with because there really isn't else quite like it available. No, the Harley Pan am is not the same or sportster-s. I feel the strange emotion of love and sadness knowing that the FTR is a dead platform moving forward with no replacement.
