Bike cuts off

I ride a 25 Indian Scout Bobber and Hopefully this is just me and not an issue. I noticed when I take the bike out it randomly will die at 1st or second gear. The power is there but the bikes engine cuts out. I can easily turn it back on and I’ll ride fine. Battery is at 14V. Anything I should be concerned about ?

Customizing my 2018 Scout – Can I do a chopped rear fender + passenger seat with OEM bags?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to change up the look of my 2018 Indian Scout and could use some advice from anyone who has tackled a similar build.

Right now, I'm running the stock rear fender with the OEM leather saddlebags and a passenger pillion/backrest. I'm installing a Memphis Shades Rio Grande sport shield tomorrow, and later this year, I'm swapping the chrome exhaust for a friend's OEM black setup paired with a set of matte black Vance & Hines Twin Slash 3" slip-ons. I also already purchased a black OEM license plate relocation kit, but unfortunately, I can't use it with my current configuration.

I have two specific goals I’m trying to achieve, but I'm hitting a few roadblocks with compatibility:

  1. The Fender: I absolutely love the chopped look of the Indian Scout Bobber rear fender. Is there a reliable aftermarket option (or a specific modification path) that gives me that short, aggressive bobber look while still allowing me to structurally support and keep my passenger seat?
  2. License Plate Relocation: I want to clean up the rear end by moving the license plate to a side-mount kit. However, I want to keep using my OEM saddlebags. Has anyone found a side-mount bracket that safely clears the OEM bags without rubbing or being completely hidden?
  3. If you've done something similar, what specific kits, brackets, or custom routes did you go with? Photos of your setups would be massively appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Happy 250th Birthday to the United States of America

It's been 250 years since 1776, July 4th, the day America formally declared independence from the tyranny of King George III. 250 years since the start of the revolution that gave rise to this beautiful country, and, just 125 years later, the first Indian Motorcycle.

The birth of the American nation and the values that we cherish are worth celebrating. Today is about independence, individuality, and yes, freedom, but just as important: our unity, our indivisibility. Celebrate the American spirit today. Get out and ride if you can but keep your head on a swivel.

Post a pic if you ride today.

Happy Birthday America.

Ride safe.

Question about reliability

I have wanted and Indian for YEARS and I’m finally at the place where I can afford a new motorcycle. I am looking at a 2022 chief Bobber with the 111 in it. It has 23,000 miles on it. Are these bikes typically reliable way past 23k miles? Is 23,000 considered high for these bikes or just getting broken in? I know it will partially depend on service history.

My first Indian motorcycle!

I haven’t been riding for the past several years. I been itching to get back into riding again. Today I’m officially an excited owner of a sport chief RT. In a couple weeks I will be taking my bike back to the dealership to add chief stage 1 slip on exhaust and a 2 up high bolster seat. I will post pictures once they install the 2 modifications.

Sneak peek of my ‘26 chief vintage at paint

My ‘26 chief vintage is still with the paint guy, but all that’s left is the tank and side cover decals, clear coat, and then reassembly. Should hopefully be done in a few more days. I am so stoked and the paint guy is equally excited.

Scheme is inspired by a 1939 Indian Chief debuted at the World’s Fair that year, and the 2013 Indian Chief Vintage Final Edition (they only made 25 of the FE’s, and you cannot find them anywhere — I’ve looked!). I’ve included a photoshopped picture of what the decal I’ve picked out will look like and the 1939/2013 pics for reference.

I will be adding a crash bar to protect the paint from accidental tip overs and will be replacing the floorboard inserts with the head dress rider floorboard pads to dress it up some. Also adding the pony bags from Viking Bags (copycat of the Indian chief bobber saddlebags), and I replaced the VB bag emblems with conchos made from a replica 1935 liberty half dollar. Might add white walls, but not sure yet. Also might replace the mirrors with gold Arlen Ness stockers, and maybe some adjustable Wunderkind levers with gold accents.

I’ll post again once she’s all put together after I pick her up from paint.

New rider with a question

Hi all, I am a new rider in general and purchased my first bike (scout 60 bobber) last week and it was just delivered this past week (06/30/2026). When I got the bike I had them install a riser on the handlebars and paid a significant amount of money to have them do it. The problem is now that I have the bike it doesn't look like it was even installed. I have not been able to get on the bike all week because of work and the extreme heat. How can I tell if the riser was installed? I plan on contacting the dealership but have to wait until Tuesday because they are closed. I'm just too inexperienced and just seeking some advice. Thanks for any help and or info.

Back to a Bagger! Decal / Vinyl options out there?

Picked up a 26 Chieftain Darkhorse this week, last bagger was a '12 CVO. Love the blue but feel like it needs some sort of decal or striping on both the bags and fairing. Not seeing much out there via Google etc. Any ideas? Have some Rinehart pipes and KST bars on order already, beyond that don't plan to do a whole lot - but we all know how that goes....

How do I get this all the way on and

Will these clamps work.

Relatively new rider with a new to me FTR. Hose popped out the other day and I'm no mechanic. Tight space too. Does it have to go even further than the ring hump in the middle and will these clamps even hold if it popped out this week?
