Switching to Charles Schwab

Curious to get input on a plan from those of you that are using Charles Schwab and their Platinum card.

I like to keep my banking as consolidated as possible but due to some flip flopping I've ended up with a mess of things across different banks. Right now all my day to day stuff is Fidelity. Checking is their CMA, I use a Brokerage more or less as savings, and their 2% card from Elan Financial. Thing is I regularly hear horror stories about Elan's support.

I've already got Plat/Gold/BPP trifecta. I also have the Rewards Checking, mainly for the purpose of getting a little bit of MR points off my daycare ($20-30k/yr) which is debit only without a big fee. The main reason we don't take heavy advantage of this setup is I decided I prefer the flexibility of cash back over MR points. I otherwise would prefer to use Amex.

I'm thinking of switching to Charles Schwab checking/brokerage and then getting their Platinum card so that I have the option to sweep MR points into the account as cash back.

  • Is it true MR points earned off any card can be deposited as cash back, because generally I only use the Platinum for portal bookings and things that trigger credits. The only way to get close to my 2% cash back from Fidelity is to be able to use the other cards for higher earnings.
  • The whole plan relies on getting approved for the Charles Schwab Platinum. Is that likely to be an issue if the other Amex cards were opened last year? We are high income / high credit score so not worried about those factors. If it would be relevant, I keep getting prompted for a 200k point SUB on the Business Platinum. I wouldn't want both long term, but I take advantage of the credits enough to break even so I guess I could if needed to.
  • Is there preferred order to canceling my Platinum and applying for the CS Platinum and/or any delay that should happen between the two actions?
  • For those doing this setup has it generally been a good experience customer service wise?

ELI5: What determines how tired you feel in the morning?

It’s odd to me that some mornings I wake up feeling tired yet end up feeling better as the day goes on, and then other mornings I can wake up feeling great then barely make it through the day without a nap.

Pete from Maintenance

Spider Noir got me interested in watching a few noir movies. I was just watching The Big Sleep and noticed Pete from Maintenance is imitating Bogart’s bookstore disguise.

I know they explain why he does this, just neat to see the connection.

Weekly running totals

Mostly just venting but it's crazy that this is still a thing in the iOS 27 betas: It's not possible to see last week's running distance. Fitness lumps everything from July together into one total, and Apple Health combines Walking+Running into one stat, then averages across the days.

Considering the typical guidance for increasing volume is to not add more than 10% a week, this is a useful number that a fitness watch should be able to provide.

I'm curious how anyone else is tracking this?

What happened to wardrobe?

I know this feature isn't for everyone but I'm actually curious to mess around with it. Last I saw the rollout was supposed to start in June. Has anyone received it? I've looked at the pre-reqs they mentioned and check all the boxes.
