Rhapsody RY-485

My daughter picked this up at Goodwill and super stoked to have it, but the TT isn’t working. I want to open it and work on it but not sure how to open it. I’ve never seen screws with these metal plates so not sure of their significance. There are no screws on the side and none on top, only the back and bottom. Anyone know what’s up with the screws with plates? Or how to approach opening this thing?

No one really buys these, right?

Seriously, has anyone here ever spent this much money on a guitar? Or even know anyone who has? I certainly never have and can assure you that of the people I know, and the people they know, and the people they know have not spent this much money on a guitar.

I had one of these a very long time ago, gave it to Goodwill 15 years ago, then acquired another a month ago… from Goodwill. It works great but did not come with a remote. I found the compatible remote (CU-PD040) on eBay and verified it works but it wasn’t making the CD player do anything. So I opened the player and found that there is no IR receiver in this particular unit. It wasn’t removed, there just never was one. Any idea why Pioneer would ship some units without an IR-receiver and others with?

More importantly. Where can I get an IR receiver for this unit? In the image I circled where it should be and where it would line up on the display.

I have a PDF of the manual for this model number and it has a page on how to insert batteries in the remote and how to use it.
