This morning got off to a rough start. My 3 year old son woke up at 5am sharp, bright eyed and bushy tailed and demanding a freezie. Moments later I forgot to keep track of where my body parts are in space and slammed the bathroom door on my finger, which is now all purple and swollen and throbbing.

I was sitting on the floor with my kids and my coffee, surrounded by scattered magnatiles and broken crayons, when my 18 month old daughter started running her fingers all through my hair. I sat very still and told her I really loved that and she responded to my feedback by kissing my hair. My son soon joined in with his wooden tools and began gently sawing the top of my head. This went on for 5 entire minutes and it was heavenly, even when my son decided my scalp needed a good hammering towards the end. Good as new. I’m so mellow now and it was truly the perfect reset.
