I just got back from my local game store. I picked up a copy of Dragon Warrior and Marble Madness for NES. Games that close to 40 years old. They've probably been sold and resold many times before arriving in my hands. But I am still experiencing them today as a new purchase.

This is why games on physical media are important. Do you think Sony's download codes will still be good after 40 years? Will you be able to resell them? Share them with someone else?

My physical game library will be around long after I'm gone. My kids and grandkids will inherit it along with everything else. They can play them, sell them, whatever they want.

It's about consumer rights. It's about choice. When you own your games you can do what you want with them. Play them, store them for decades, sell them... it's up to you. I have old games that I haven't played in years, but sometimes I dust off an old favorite and run through it again. Maybe it's about revisiting a classic, cherishing a nostalgic moment, or discovering something you never saw before in a landmark title.

I will never give up that power of choice.
