Recommendations for a commuter? New to riding (6’, 220lbs) Very hilly area.

I currently use an electric scooter to get to work, it’s super fun at times — other times I’m like oh… I’m riding a fucking scooter. In all seriousness I’m just looking for something that zips me around town quicker, I can’t even imagine taking the bike out for longer than 1-2 hours (both ways).

The nearest city-hub is 35 mins from me, so that’s a pretty good benchmark for distance.

Modern style (always love Yamaha’s when I see them), very interested in anything electric, nothing Harley-like (is that a style?), would really love to keep the price down <$10k but open to any and all suggestions. I want something that won’t have me stinking to high hell when I’m finishing a ride, my job is mostly business casual and would prefer not to have to change into work clothes every day at work (but again it is what it is if I find the right bike!).

I’m 6’, 220lbs so definitely could lose a couple, very very very hilly area I live in as well. Let me know if there’s anything else I should touch on for a proper recommendation, I honestly have zero clue how and where to start looking. Comfortable with any brand as well but let me know ones to avoid or prioritize.

Edit: sport I think is the word I’m looking for the style, not ‘modern.’ Essentially anything that doesn’t look like a Moped or Harley Davidson I’m cool with

I love finance, I generally love helping people and playing a role in their lives being made even a fraction better through my actions. Coming from nowhere, I decided to try to step into banking on the retail side - seemed like a good fit. Honestly, my issue with my job right now is it feels too much like a sales role. If I wanted to spend my days pushing people onto products, I would’ve leaned into that (and at least chosen an industry or company whose products I fully believe in).

I know there are jobs in this sector that will fit better, I just wanna put my best foot forward at all times and hear experiences of how *you* succeeded in leaving retail. Or how you secured your back office job without those cushy degrees/schools on your resume.

I live in New York, I’m a train ride away from NYC, I have no children, or debt - I know I can do this with time and effort.
