What American movie changed your view on films?
Everyone has that one movie that feels different.A film that makes you appreciate storytelling in a new way.Which movie changed how you look at cinema?

Some scenes stay in your head long after the credits roll. It could be emotional, shocking, or just perfectly made. What scene from an American movie is unforgettable for you?
A great movie can stay with us because of its characters.Sometimes one person carries the entire story. Which characters do you still remember years later?
Some movies get judged too quickly when they release.Years later, people sometimes discover what made them special. What American movie do you think deserves another look?
Some movies are incredible, but they leave such a strong emotional impact that one viewing feels like enough. Not because they're bad. Quite the opposite. For me, those are the films I recommend to everyone but rarely revisit. They stay with you long after the credits roll, and a second watch almost feels unnecessary. What's your "masterpiece that I'll probably never watch again," and what made it hit so hard?
I watched The Odyssey at IFC Center a few days ago, and honestly, I walked out pretty impressed. I had seen the 1997 The Odyssey before, so I was curious how this version would handle the story. The scale is on another level. The storm scenes, the journey across the sea, and the moments with Odysseus and his crew were probably my favorite parts. I also really liked how the story did not feel like it was relying only on big visuals. There were some quieter emotional moments that hit harder than I expected. The whole thing felt epic without losing the human side of Odysseus. Definitely worth seeing on a big screen. 9/10 for me.
Some movies that felt average when they came out seem much better years later. What American movie surprised you the most when you revisited it?
Some movies are great the first time, but somehow get even better once you know where the story is going. You start noticing little details, background moments, foreshadowing, or performances that you completely missed before. What American movie went from “that was good” to “wait, this is actually a masterpiece” after a rewatch? And what detail did you notice the second time that completely changed how you saw the movie?
Not necessarily your favorite movie. I mean the one where, while watching it, you suddenly thought, “Yeah, this is going to stay with me.” What was yours, and what made it hit differently?
Not a redemption arc or a plot twist where they suddenly become a different person.I mean a character who does basically the same things throughout the movie, but by the end you realize you were interpreting them completely wrong. What is your best example, and what made it click for you?
Not necessarily a bad movie just one that everyone seems to love, but it never clicked for you. What is your pick, and what went wrong? I feel like this one could get some very controversial answers.
Not looking for the usual “this movie is overrated” answers. What is one genuinely unpopular movie opinion you have that you would stand by no matter how much people disagree? Curious to see which takes start the biggest arguments
Not your favorite movie, and not necessarily a masterpiece. Just a film that quietly changed how you think, notice people, or look at everyday situations. What was it, and why did it stick with you?
We all have that one movie that completely caught us off guard.Without spoiling the twist itself, what movie surprised you the most? What made it so effective the writing, the acting, or the way it was set up?Remember to hide spoilers if you discuss specific scenes so everyone can join the conversation.
Hi, I'm a moderator of r/flicks. We've been actively moderating the community (approving/removing posts, updating rules, and managing the subreddit), but our Moderator Achievements don't seem to be unlocking or updating. Is there anything specific we need to enable, or could this be a bug? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks
Every decade has its own vibe, but the '90s had something different. Not necessarily the best movie from the decade, but the one that instantly feels like a time capsule. The fashion, soundtrack, dialogue, practical effects, video store nostalgia, or just the overall atmosphere.Whenever it comes on, it immediately feels like you're back in the '90s.What movie captures that feeling for you, and what makes it the ultimate '90s movie?
We all have that one movie we think is underrated and deserves a bigger spotlight.Maybe it was ignored when it came out, maybe people misunderstood it, or maybe it just got buried by bigger releases. What’s a movie you’ll always defend and tell people to watch?
Not necessarily the scariest movie overall' just one scene that stayed in your mind long after the credits rolled.Maybe it was a creepy reveal, a disturbing atmosphere, a simple moment of silence, or a scene that made you afraid to turn off the lights. What horror scene still gives you chills whenever you think about it?
Some movies get reevaluated over time. A film that was hated becomes a classic, or a beloved movie slowly falls out of favor. But what is one opinion you have that has never changed?Maybe you still think an "overrated" movie deserves all the praise, or you still cannot understand why people love a certain classic. No judgment just share the movie and why your opinion has stayed the same all these years.
