Current Shortlist for Boy #3

I know my posts have been repetitive on here, I’m sorry. We keep circling around different matchups of the same names.

We have gone through thousands of names, and last night I kept bringing up old previously vetoed names to see if my husband had changed his mind on any. As of last night, this is the shortlist he is okay with, with the exception of one that he is “trying to warm up to” but hasn’t vetoed yet.

Our older boys are Warren Patrick and Clyde Theodore, for reference.

Morris Ambrose > Mo, Morrie, Mose, Mosey

Linus Augustine

Gilbert Wilder > Gil, Gib, Gibs, Gibby, Gilby, Bertie, Bertie Boy

Grover Benjamin > Groves, Grove, Grovey

Two random ones that we are sort of meh on but he kind of likes:
Merrill
Lowry

I know it is a name people either love or absolute disagree with, but I cannot explain it other than ever since I have been pregnant with this baby, Grover has felt the most *right* to me. Grover was on my long list for a few years and every time I saw it I thought it was probably too out there or not something I would ever want to actually use. When I got pregnant with this baby and we found out it was another boy, suddenly a lot of the names we previously liked just felt so off and wrong to me and Grover was the only thing that felt right. But, my husband isn’t a fan. He hasn’t outright vetoed it and says he is trying to warm up to it- which, our older boys’ names he didn’t like the first time he heard them and then changed his mind and liked them.

Gilbert we found back and forth on whether we can picture actually using in daily life or not.

Linus is my husband’s top pick and I was the one who convinced him on it in the first place, but when I try to connect it with this baby it just feels off to me. I like it on paper and think it is cohesive with our other boys’ names, but I something about the way it feels and sounds when I say it out loud grates me.

Morris we both like, he likes it less than Linus. I like it a fair bit, but I sometimes wonder if it feels a little blah or lackluster.

I’m overjoyed to be having a third boy. I’m so excited about the dynamic of three brothers all close in age.
But the namesssssss, y’all.
If we were naming a girl, there would be so many combos I absolutely adore that we would be struggling to pick just one of the many that knock our socks off.
Naming a third boy… we are struggling to scrounge up one name that we just mutually don’t despise.

Naming a child with my husband is also not for the faint of heart..

I’m not afraid of choosing a name that isn’t everyone’s cup of tea- a lot of people grimaced when we said we were naming our second son Clyde. Now they all love his name and it fits him perfectly. However, everyone we’ve tossed names around with have unanimously hated every contender my husband hasn’t fully vetoed yet.

As of our last conversation, these are the names he would consider actually using. I like certain aspects of all of them but don’t know that I feel wowed by any of them, or I have specific reservations about certain ones.

Warren, Clyde, & Linus
Warren, Clyde, & Morris
Warren, Clyde, & Ambrose
Warren, Clyde, & Gilbert
Warren, Clyde, & Samson

A few that are most likely fully vetoed but come back up from time to time:

Grover
Gene
Eugene
Glenn
Clifford
Calloway
Lyle
Wilfred
Douglas

Seen in a quilting group on my Facebook feed. I’m going to assume maybe this was an attempt at honoring one or more relatives…
