Grown up child of level 3 ish hoarder mom. You all know how it is, ashamed to bring friends over because of the state of the home, misplacing anything means it’s lost in oblivion forever, picking through the fridge to find something that’s NOT expired, every morning cleaning a tiny corner of the kitchen table overflowing with assorted crap just enough to put a bowl of cereal on.. could go on.

Anyway we’ve all moved out and while I occasionally get mad / sad for my childhood self in that environment I limit my visits (she hasn’t gotten any better, she’s managed to fill a four bedroom house floor to ceiling with crap while living alone) and just put my own sanity first, we communicate by phone mostly.

Her house got burgled a few weeks back and it must have been the most disappointing experience ever for those clowns because there is literally nothing of value in the place, she listens to public radio on a 10 years old Chromebook covered in coffee stains they didn’t bother taking lol. Otherwise I’m pretty sure they didn’t want the 20+ sets of old bedding, broken kids toys or our schoolbooks from the 90’s. It’s just sad they didn’t take more stuff.

The cops came to visit and were like ‘wow, these guys really did a number on this place, sorry Ma’am’. It literally only looked about 10% worse lol.

we did secure the place and got her a ring doorbell and stuff after that but I’m pretty sure these guys wont be back
