CFA L1 — 2 days left, should I defer?
My CFA L1 exam is on Friday (21st) and I’m really underprepared. I’ve studied every day, but I started late because of college exams, I’m a slow learner, and I still have a huge chunk of the syllabus left. I’d estimate my chances of passing at maybe 40–60%, but I genuinely have no idea.
I paid around ₹1.5 lakh, which is a lot for my family, so I’m terrified of sitting, failing, and wasting that money. But deferring also isn’t simple. My parents are very conservative and strongly dislike my relationship, and they already blame my relationship for any academic struggles. If I ask to defer, I know I’ll get a lot of taunts and blame, even though I genuinely started late because of college and have been studying consistently.
So I’m stuck: sit and take the risk, or defer and lose the deferral fee but get more time?
Has anyone been in a similar situation and passed despite being very underprepared 1–2 days before L1? Or did you defer and feel it was the better decision? I’m genuinely freaking out and could use some perspective.
