Incorrect sign in exam

If for example, I arrive at the correct answer in a quantitative constructed response question, would I still get full marks if the sign is wrong?

For instance, in answer box I put 120,000, when figure should be -120,000 for a cost estimate

I also included the inputs to my calculations as working.

Thanks

Expectations about real exams

Got an average score of 78 in CFAI Mocks & 76 in Kaplan Mocks

Overall i found the real exam doable and i am expecting around 80-90 %

I studied the text book around 10-15 times but just gave 5 mocks so far. I feel like the more you revise the better you get at understanding the concepts. Also, i did lookup many concepts on ChatGpt and understood many concepts very well.

I think i will pass with a high margin and I am very confident, but I feel bad for people whose papers did'nt go well. Really wish everyone passes the paper, but its not possible.

So You guys can conncect with me to ask for any advice on dms and i will guide you.

Proud of every single soldier here.

Just gave my August L1 attempt

The exam was relatively at par with mocks, straight forward for the most of it. I didn’t particularly struggle with time, but I was closer to the clock than on my mocks. Feel free to ask any questions, and I’ll try to answer them.

CFA L1 — 2 days left, should I defer?

My CFA L1 exam is on Friday (21st) and I’m really underprepared. I’ve studied every day, but I started late because of college exams, I’m a slow learner, and I still have a huge chunk of the syllabus left. I’d estimate my chances of passing at maybe 40–60%, but I genuinely have no idea.
I paid around ₹1.5 lakh, which is a lot for my family, so I’m terrified of sitting, failing, and wasting that money. But deferring also isn’t simple. My parents are very conservative and strongly dislike my relationship, and they already blame my relationship for any academic struggles. If I ask to defer, I know I’ll get a lot of taunts and blame, even though I genuinely started late because of college and have been studying consistently.
So I’m stuck: sit and take the risk, or defer and lose the deferral fee but get more time?
Has anyone been in a similar situation and passed despite being very underprepared 1–2 days before L1? Or did you defer and feel it was the better decision? I’m genuinely freaking out and could use some perspective.

PwC Mumbai vs KPMG Bengaluru which should my friend choose?

Asking for a friend who has offers in Valuation & Deal Advisory and is confused between the two.

PwC Mumbai: ₹12L fixed + ₹50K joining bonus + 30% variable
KPMG Bengaluru: ₹13L fixed + ₹1.5L joining bonus + 25% variable

From a career and learning perspective, which would be better for valuation/deal advisory? Which firm offers better exposure, learning and long-term growth? Is the additional compensation at KPMG enough to justify moving to Bengaluru?

Location is also a factor. My friend is from MP, and Mumbai is much easier and cheaper to travel to (overnight trains etc.). He also has quite a few friends and some family in Mumbai, which could be useful since he may need some support from them in the next few months. Bengaluru would mostly mean taking flights back home.

Would really appreciate opinions from people working at either firm or in valuation/deal advisory. If you were in this situation, which one would you pick?

Done with cfa level 1 exam

I completed my cfa level 1 on the 18th and I am
Not sure if I am gonna pass. I had been consistently scoring 75%+ on Atleast the last 7 mocks and yet I somehow manage to fuck up the first session of my exam. For anyone giving their exams in the next days, please give it with a calm mind and read every question thoroughly and take your full time or you might end up regretting it later. Do not panic and do not think about anything else.

Guidance in choosing the coaching for CFA L1 in India.

I am an MBA, Opting for CFA L1 in Feb-27.

I am thinking of joining a coaching because I don't have a roadmap and conceptual clarity in a few subjects. I did some research and found a few big names for CFA guides.

I am planning to complete the syllabus in the next 3 months, as I am free all day. I have budget constraints and can afford a course ranging between 15k to 20k.

Which coaching do you think will be best for CFA L1?
(If you are affiliated with any, what are its perks and drawbacks?)

Just gave my level 1 exam

I found it to be tougher than the free mocks. For context, I got 81% and 75% in the free mocks and 68-70% in the premium ones.

Exam tomorrow I am panicking

Gave only free les mocks with 66,66, 78,69 accuracy
Literally shivering a bit rn as many people are suggesting exam was tougher than the mocks.

Session 2 particularly feels like I don’t remember anything specially derivatives and portfolio.

Ig I just need some words of affirmation to stop panicking and get to one last reading of notes rn.

Folks with experience, i need your help, tomorrow is my exam

So, tomorrow is my exam, and I wanted to ask a few things about the test center.

First: Am I allowed to carry a bag to the center? Will there be a place to keep it? I have a few things with me, like my formula notebook, a power bank, and an extra battery for my calculator.

Second: Can you suggest some things I should keep in mind for exam day?

  • What should I carry to eat during the break?
  • Should I carry a printed copy of my appointment confirmation/letter?
  • Is a wallet allowed inside the test center?
  • What things should I definitely remember to carry or do?
  • Is there anything you personally forgot to do on exam day that you wish you had remembered?

One more important question: Do they ask you to reset your calculator at the test center? If yes, I’ll practice setting it up again, especially things like changing it to AOS mode and the other basic settings.

And honestly, I’m also feeling pretty low on confidence right now. I gave 4 mocks and scored around 61–63% in all of them. I know the passing score isn’t a fixed 67%, but I’m still worried because I feel like I’m right on the edge.

The pressure of the fees that I took from my parents feels so, so heavy. I honestly wish I had gotten the 24th instead of the 20th, but well… there’s nothing I can do about that now.

I know I have prepared as much as I could, but I’m scared. For me, CFA feels like my last real chance to do something with my life and prove to myself in front of my parents that I can actually make something of myself.

So, if you guys have any last-minute tips, advice, things to remember, or even just words of encouragement, please share them.

Consider me your little brother asking for some help before the big day.

Thanks a lot to everyone who takes the time to read this and help.
