Civvies - Princess Liner

Slowly getting through the last holdouts in my pile of shame - this time, the lovely Princess Liner objective ship. The original model has way too many windows for my taste, but I couldn't quite get the green stuff to sit smoothly enough on the lower decks, hence the painted-on damage to hide the bumps. Let's say the ship got shot up a bit just before the game started.

It was a fun single-evening project. And even if I didn't get it as close to the reference as I wanted, I'm still generally happy with the way it turned out.

Kitbashing: did you know...

...that the Necromunda Van Saars gang actually makes for decent looking Naval Raiders' Troopers/Legionnaires models with just a few simple parts swaps like those Heretic helmets and icons? Their lasguns could also pass for some form of harpoon guns or underwater rifles if you ask me.

While we're on the subject, I'm thinking of kitbashing or converting the remaining Elite options for the Raiders. I've already got the Priest (the guy with the radio; I'm considering adding some small bits like hellish seals or parchments though, maybe a scabbard with a sword) and a Chorister (an unholy abomination of snipped printed parts from the original STL and plastic Wargames Atlantic Panzerjagers), and while the Death Commando looks perfectly submersible as he is, the original Artillery Witch is anything but, and I'm kind of stumped as to how to kitbash her into a more diving-friendly shape.

War Wolf for local competition PT.2

See the original post for more context

https://www.reddit.com/r/TrenchCrusade/s/Y03wewdnoo

So I've followed some of the advice on making the lights brighter and the ground and some of the armor a bit darker and night illumination-like. The back and legs of the wolf are a bit bluer and less saturated; the lamp's light is increased dramatically; and the candles also cast more colored light now. Some of the armor also got a tiny bit of darker ink just to make it a smidge darker and colder in tone.

I might need to make the center of the lamp brighter, right now the glow's center is quite small; maaaaaaybe also brighten up the candles' wicks. Other than that, I think I'm out of ideas? Maybe I could retouch some of the runes too - I've blasted most of the model with matte varnish, so things are like a third of a tone duller and darker.

War Wolf comp piece

I know I've taken a long break from painting our favourite grimdarkest game's models, but here I am again.

And this time, I have a question.

So our town's only game store is holding a painting competition, and not only have I managed to sign up for some reason, but I've also picked a model that goes a bit against my painting style. And now I'm curious if you fine people might have a few improvement focused pointers for me as I'm a bit stumped on where to go from here or whether to call it done, and if it's something that can be added without repainting the whole thing, that'd be amazing.

The model does fit the competition's requirements, but I don't know the exact judging criteria nor am I sure about the median painting level amongst participants, so I am essentially flying blind.

UCM - Armiger-class Cruiser (Madrid counts-as)

CORRECTION: I got the name wrong, it's a Glasgow, not Madrid, and I should pay more attention to what things are called (can't fix the title anymore)

Still waiting on the old Cruiser sprues to return to the store, I've figured I might as well kitbash something. And since I am missing a Bombardment ship, the choice was made to make a Madrid cruiser. With all of that said - here it is, the Interstellar Security Advocacy's first and only retrofitted ship of the Armiger class, the ISV A Season For All Things.

I'm generally happy with the way it turned out, and hopefully it looks just un-resistance-like enough to fit the UCM style, especially since it matches my ship liveries for the rest of the fleet.

PHR - Cato kitbash from event BC

Finally got around to painting the event exclusive Battlecruiser that I - on the advice of the fine folks at the Dropfleet discord - converted to a Cato pocket battleship.

Since they're already vaguely fish shaped, I've decided I'll go with that theme all the way and give them fishy liveries, too - maybe that doesn't combine as well with Covenant style names (this was supposed to be called Eternal Conviction), but I do like the end result all the same.

Edit: I wonder if I've made it recognizable enough - this was inspired by a real exotic fish, even if it's not 100% accurate to it.

An homage to the coolest Heavy Fighter in the 'verse

Yes, I know it's classed as a Gunship, but hear me out.

I've always liked heavy fighters, questionably useful as they've been throughout the game's history, and when the news broke that there's gonna be a cool new Origin heavy I was excited for the ILW DefenseCon this year. I've spent a good chunk of 4.7 flying an in-game bought Guardian, and longer still on Vanguards and Scorpiuses before, so I was really looking forward to perhaps getting one "to keep". Finally I would have a cool heavy fighter in my hangar again!

Cut to Origin day and me finally giving it a test I quickly realized it's not really my cup of tea - sure, it flies like a heavy, but it's entirely too squishy, the interior is a bit 'meh'; all in all, cool but not something I'd use constantly. Disappointed by this, I noticed someone else posting here about people sleeping on the Redeemer - a ship I used to have way, way before it got reworked, or even before Pyro became a thing. And having rented it now during the Aegis day...

Man.

For how much drama there was when CIG "nerfed it to make way for Paladin", its current state feels awesome. Even solo, it's a competent brawler for PvE (alright pilot firepower, nothing amazing; downright great maneuverability for how much armor and shields it has), and when crewed it can chew through waves after waves of ships short of subcapitals and above.

Long story short, Chewie, we're home.

I'll tell you why I wanna destroy Hurston, but I'll only tell you once. Wanna hear?

Now that the shades are in, all I need now is for CIG to add prosthetics into the game, and the cosplay would be complete.

And some vac-sealed headgear so I could actually play the game like that.
