Advice needed:Missed the GEM explorer pre-departure talk and makeup session

Hey all, I had a pretty awful recess week dealing a lot with personal matters and I forgot to attend the make up session for the gem explorer pre-departure talk...am I cooked? I had to miss the first session because I had class, but yesterday I just literally forgot...Is it possible to go to the office and literally apologise in person, I genuinely feel awful.

Has anyone gone through this?? Pls advise if u did!!!

Did Stuffd remove their burrito bowl?

I have been to 2 outlets and requested for the burrito bowl, only for me to be redirected to the daily bowl. Please tell me this is an outlet specific thing! I'm gluten sensitive and the daily bowls dont have the same ingredients as the burrito bowl.

Is it too late to apply for 2nd major in Y3?

Hi all! I’m currently a 3rd-year Economics major with a Minor in English. I realised last year, after talking to a few English profs and taking some classes, that I’m actually quite interested in pursuing English Literature for postgraduate studies.

My current study plan is structured around graduating in 2029, so I have some flexibility to take additional modules and explore the areas I’m interested in. So I don’t mind graduating later if it means I can properly pursue English Lit alongside Economics.

Recently, I’ve become even more certain that I want to continue with English, so I’m considering applying for a 2nd Major in English instead of keeping it as a Minor. One of the main reasons is that the Minor has an AU restriction, whereas a 2nd Major would allow me to take more English modules and make me a more competitive masters applicant.

Has anyone successfully applied for a 2nd Major in English in Year 3? Is it possible to apply at this stage, and does the School usually allow it?

Would also really appreciate hearing from anyone who has done a 2nd Major in English alongside Economics (or another non-English major), especially if you applied in Y3. Thanks! :)

What to do if I need a particular bde for my minor?

Hey all, I didn't manage to get my BDE during course registration, and I was wondering if it's worth emailing the professor. I am currently doing a minor in English and I really want to take this Level 3 Literature module because it aligns with the research I hope to do in the future, and I'm also hoping to work with the professor for my URECA project. There are about five people on the waitlist at the moment.

Has anyone had any success getting in by emailing the professor?

US Freight forwarder to Sg recommendations: Ezbuy or Buynship?

Hi all, I’m planning to order some rowing suits from the US, as it looks like shipping is free if I send them to a US address first.

This is my first time using a freight forwarding service, so I’m a little nervous about things like my parcel going missing or the merchant rejecting my delivery to the forwarding address.

Has anyone here used Ezbuy or Buynship before recently? I’m currently leaning towards Buyandship since it seems to be the most affordable option, but I’d love to hear about your experiences and recommendations. Ideally want my suits to arrive scratch free and safe!

Has anyone used a freight forwarding service for JLathletics before?

Hi all, I currently dont live in the US and unfortunately it seems that most countries outside of US JL ships to charges at least $70 for shipping. So using a freight forwarder would be a more affordable option for me. I really like some uni suits I saw on there, so looking at another website is not an option as well. Has anyone tried this before? I'm kind of worried of my order getting cancelled because of it haha.

Difficult finance econs mods to map during exchange?

Hey guys, I'll be heading to the University of Bath for exchange and was wondering if any fellow Econ students could share their experiences with module mapping.

I'm planning to specialise in Financial Economics, so I'm trying to figure out which Econ mods are the biggest pain to take at NTU and might be better to clear overseas. Btw hate hate final exams!! Any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated! Thanks :)

Looking for emergency custom singlets to Singapore in 2 weeks

Hi all,

I know this is a long shot, but does anyone know of a company that can produce and ship custom rowing singlets to Singapore by 25 June?

Our team is flying overseas for a regatta shortly after that date, and unfortunately a number of logistics delays have pushed our apparel timeline back much later than expected. We already have a logo ready fyi.

We're looking for:

  • Custom rowing/racing singlets
  • Team logo printing
  • Around 9 pieces (5 men, 4 women)
  • Delivery to Singapore by 25 June at the latest

We've looked at some options on Taobao before, but the material quality wasn't great, so we're hoping for something closer to what established rowing, cycling, or endurance sports brands use.

I still have a custom Nike Dri-FIT team shirt from my old job years ago and was wondering if there are suppliers that can produce similar-quality technical apparel on a rush timeline.

Since Australia and New Zealand are relatively close to Singapore, I was also wondering if anyone has experience with suppliers there that can turn around custom orders quickly.

Any recommendations, contacts, or even companies you've personally used would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Novice bow sweeper from sculler tips?

Hi guys, I have been rowing since August last year. My club dynamic is currently a bit weird: we technically dont have an official coach to teach us so everything we learn is from our peers. Occasionally there is a coach from the national team to advise us, but that is a bit rare.

When I first started out, I did some sweeping for three months, however ever since then I have been 100% focused on sculling (single and doubles) and realised/ forgot some fundamental parts of sweeping.

I notice some parts of my deficits in sculling like not being fully squared (from my view point it looks squared, but on camera I'm 90% squared), struggling to catch (how does one simply drop the blade in moving water without the oars being swept away??) and opening the back too early are starting to bite me in the sweep as well. Moreover I am struggling to also relax my shoulders and lean into the rigger (unable to take full strokes). Frankly, my length in the video is just sad.

Additionally I am struggling with some different dynamics that come with sweeping such as the knee flare when it comes to the catch: like how much I be flaring? But also since we are flaring our knees, how do we distribute our weight without collapsing our weight to the side we lean towards to? I have also been watching several videos of pro rowers (eg Kate knifton/us olympians vs British olympians) and I notice their finishes are different (aggressive vs smooth): is there a base line agreement on which is the correct 'form' for a finish?

There is an upcoming regatta for next month and I really want to improve my sweep skills and not burden the rest of my team mates: can anyone give me some advice on my form?

Some things I am working on already: early squaring (doing more square blade only drills) and tapping down more (near my lap) and immediately at the finish. And I am still doing more sequencing work and leg drive exercises on the erg too.

In the video, I am the girl in yellow if that helps! Thank you!

Hi guys, currently looking for fridge storage services held by halls (willing to pay)! Currently living in hall 10, there's a lot of stairs so ideally a hall storage near me would be great.
