Season 3, episode 6

I love the scene when Walt shows up to his underground lab for his first day and meets Gale, his new assistant. The nerdiness is so oddly wholesome and I’m here for it, especially because I don’t remember exactly what happens with Gale’s character, but I’m sure it wasn’t good. I love the little moments of levity throughout the series.

I feel that Walt actually does enjoy teaching

You see it throughout the series. He’s passionate about what he knows and I imagine it’s fun for him to see the lights come on in students, like Jesse, years later, for instance.

UNFORTUNATELY, teaching doesn’t pay well in the US.

I love the banter between Jesse and Walt and Saul

We have to remember that there are master comedians at work in this cast. It’s actually so funny to look for them trying not to crack smiles on my third rewatch. It’s funny. Whenever Walt is being an asshole to Jesse, it’s laced with something funny.

Something I missed on my first watch (age 20), and second watch (age 26)

I am now 38 and far more jaded, ha. Someone commented on a post I made last night about Jesse and Jane falling in love. Commenter said, she wasn’t in love with him. *sobs* I can see that very clearly now :( I don’t doubt that she enjoys his company, but yeah. Young me was viewing through rose colored spectacles.

Rewatch! S2, ep4 - Opening scene acting!

EDIT: scene 2, following the actual opening scene between Jesse and Walt murmuring over convenience store aisles. SO GOOD. This is when it really starts to sink in for me that Walt is… gone. Not a good human. If he ever has been. Not anymore. Jesse is always the perfect mirror.

Walt wakes up to make breakfast for Skylar and Junior for the first time, or at least one of the first times, as observed by Junior (“I didn’t know you were allowed to touch the stove.”) Walt is acting strange, like he’s high. Skylar is like, Walt, really? Awkward morning at breakfast. Junior’s ride comes to pick him up for school, and Junior leaves like, mmmkay dad? Bye.

Walt attempts to do the dishes while pitching to Skylar that maybe she should go away for a creative writing conference. BULLSHIT. Poor Skylar. Says nothing, just gets up to help with the dishes.

Walt says, “Oh hey! I’ve been thinking about that second cell phone thing you mentioned…”

Skylar walks out.

-

SO GOOD! Across the board. Brian Cranston’s acting is next level and the acting by all is incredible, period. And also, the hate Skylar’s character gets is so unfair. It’s just so good.

The writing, the staging, it’s all a masterpiece.

A take that will activate snarkers

We seem to go out of our way to say that no one should be talking about or reposting photos of the children. But watch them turn 18 and watch the haters start going off at 12:01AM

I’m not a fan, but I can see it all coming.

Edit: I used to be a fan. Long ago. And I’m still in this sub, so who knows.

Watching Miss Americana for the first time

It obviously hasn’t aged very well, but it does give me appreciation for how hard she works and how passionate she is about her career. Her fame is massive, and I really need to check myself when I’m feeling urges to project onto her, lol. The excessive private jet travel is shady, but then, she quite literally has no privacy left. She’s lost her humility, but then, can you blame her?! She could be better about making political statements now and again, but how much of that does she owe us? She’ll be attacked no matter what she does. She has a life so out of the ordinary, even though she’s built her success on being relatable. It must be such a strange existence.

Mel King

I just adore her character. I’m not an easy crier, and she’s made me tear up several times (I’m on season 1, ep 12). Her empathy and kindness and sensitivity qualities are so moving.

Edit to say, I hope she doesn’t burn out, because she’s a dream doctor.

Every character in this show is hilarious

I love them all and I don’t care who knows it! Hannah in particular is so funny in how god damn self involved she is. That’s exactly the point Lena is making with her writing.
