Paid off my house and credit cards

I’m happy to share that my house is paid off. Also paid off my credit cards. All happened this month.
My house is now valued at 550k and I will stay in this house until my last breath.
Now I need to start saving that monthly mortgage money into a brokerage.

Need to celebrate first.

I need to suck it up

Got my masters in nursing (FNP) last year and got hired at a specialty. No joke it’s hard work as a new grad.
I wanted to quit. But every time I feel that way, I think about the many new grads who are struggling to even get an interview.
I feel very lucky. My job is a 10 min drive. Starting salary is 180k. M-F. 14 pts/day plus follow-ups. No admin time. Great benefits.

I definitely need to suck it up.

Finally! New grad NP got an offer.

I graduated about two years ago. Finally got a temporary job offer at the VA. For those of you who work at the VA, what do I expect as far as compensation. I have 10 years bedside nursing experience. I don’t know if that matters. I appreciate it.

Another Sunday morning in my backyard

Brunch. Leftover takeaway from yesterday. And a bottle of champagne from a trip in France last year. Mimosa here we go. I’m just enjoying my life while I can. Wish I could retire already.

50M, can I retire in 8 years?

I started late in life. 50, GM, single, no kids. Paid off house in SoCal. Didn’t have a decent job until 12 yrs ago. Now making 190k and maxing contribution at 32.5k/yr. Plan to retire at 58 or 59 until I can start withdrawing from 401k. Health insurance will be covered by current employer when I retire. Will most likely have a small pension of 1.5k monthly.

I grew up poor so I can handle just having the basic essentials in life. Will most likely sell house by then and rent a small studio apartment.

Current monthly living expenses is 3k, all included. Saving $3k monthly in HYSA.

Would I be able to afford retiring in 8 years?

As a new grad np with 15 yrs bedside nursing experience…

… should I be surprised to be offered a position that would pay me 215k annually? No start date yet. They will train me for 6 months. 14 pts max. 5x8s. Specialty clinic. VA LA. Are they that desperate? I would take it for sure. What’s your experience? 26 days PTO 13 Sick Time 11 holidays. This is a dream offer. Imposter syndrome is kicking in.

EDIT: I spoke too soon. They rescinded the offer. Back to Indeed! 🥺🥺🥺

I think I’m okay now

I struggled growing up. I told myself there’s no absolute in life so I’m just enjoying whatever I have right now. I have a good paying job. My own place. I’m healthy but getting older. Overall I’m content. So I made myself breakfast today and just here in my backyard enjoying Saturday morning all by myself. Cheers!

New grad here. On my second month of training. Great compensation. I feel like my position is not secured. Signs are pretty obvious. Oh well. I’m just enjoying my time for now. I tell myself it’s a paid training. I’ve set aside 6 months expense savings in case they chop my position.

There’s no security in this market right now.

I’m just glad I’ve also paid off my student loans, car note, and house before this uncertainty. I will be okay. Keep telling myself this.

Anybody here working as an NP at the VA? Can you guys give me an idea what your grade and step is as a new grad or as an experienced NP and which specialty?

I’m a new grad and I have an upcoming second interview. What grade and step should I expect? Would they consider my bedside experience? I also worked as a charge nurse. I know every state has a different pay scale but what about the grade and step for those of you who are working there already?

I know it’s going to be a tough one. I’m sure they have other candidates that are already in house. I’m not a VA nurse so my chance of getting picked might even be lower. Overall, I am thrilled to have been invited for a second interview.

Thank you.
