Going against the narrative, I think Rahane's captaincy this season has been great, tho he hasn't justified his spot as a batsman

Going against the narrative, I think Rahane's captaincy this season has been great, tho he hasn't justified his spot as a batsman

After the 2025 season, I was one of the most anti-Rahane as captain people. I remember last season and his obsession with using only the 5 primary bowlers, not using Russell's bowling when it was needed, predictable bowling changes and not being proactive on the field at all. He looked very clueless and switched to auto pilot mode when the opposition came out all guns blazing.

All this has been rectified this season to his credit. From day 1, he wanted Cameron Green to bowl and when he eventually did, Rahane used all his 6 bowlers very effectively in almost every match, including the ones we lost. He has been very proactive on the field and with bowler rotations. He has used his not ideal resources very efficiently and to even give KKR a glimmer of hope at this stage of the tournament shouldn't be overlooked at all.

Now his batting has been a massive liability this season which I don't think I need to elaborate on. The post is more about his captaincy and I feel a lot of KKR fans vilify him beyond the jokes and memes.

Why does the concern of "workload management" vanish during the 14 IPL matches?? Will never understand how resting from the national team and playing irrelevant games for MI after getting eliminated sits right with any Indian fan no matter how big of a match winner a player is
