[Online][5.5e] 2024 [CST][18+] The Long Thaw - A sequel campaign to Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden

Twelve years ago, heroes defeated Auril the Frostmaiden and ended the Everlasting Rime. For the first time in years, the people of Ten-Towns saw the sunrise again.

The ice has begun to melt, revealing ancient ruins, forgotten creatures, buried secrets, and things that were perhaps better left frozen beneath the glacier. Trade has returned to Icewind Dale, along with fortune seekers, scholars, mercenaries, and opportunists looking to claim what the endless winter hid away.

Now, whispers spread across the Dale:

  • Entire caravans are disappearing on thawed roads
  • Strange lights beneath the Reghed Glacier
  • Villages reporting cattle and townsfolk mutilated in the night
  • Old cults returning beneath the midnight sun
  • Survivors claiming the cold never truly left them

Welcome to The Thawing North.

This campaign is a dark fantasy sequel to Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, though you do NOT need to have played the original campaign to join. The game will focus heavily on exploration, survival, mystery, faction politics, horror elements, and the consequences of a land recovering from a magical catastrophe.

Game Info:

  • System: D&D 5.5e
  • Platform: Foundry VTT + Discord
  • Timezone: CST
  • Tone: Dark fantasy/horror/exploration
  • Experience Level: New players welcome
  • Starting Level: 3rd
  • Party Size: Looking for 2-3 more players
  • Schedule: TBD

What I’m looking for:

  • Players interested in roleplay and collaborative storytelling
  • Characters with strong motivations and connections to the world of Faerun
  • People who enjoy atmosphere, mystery, and meaningful choices
  • Respectful players who want a long-term campaign

If interested, send me:

  • Name/pronouns
  • Age
  • Discord username
  • D&D experience
  • Preferred playstyle
  • Character concept idea
  • Favorite moment from a past campaign

The North is thawing;
Something beneath the ice is waking up.
