There's a Republican running unopposed for PVRPD Area 4 & the deadline to join by registering (NO $ OR SIGNATURES REQUIRED TO RUN) at the VCGC is 5 PM TODAY, Friday, 8/7/26.

Really wishing I wasn't too disabled by my AuDHD (see: how horrible I am at posting time-sensitive anything) to run for public office...

The 805UndocuFund Rapid Response Network has 3 trainings this week for new volunteers (only one training session's required): in TO 5:30-6:30 or 7:30 TONIGHT, WEDNESDAY, 7/29/26, in Ventura 5-6 or 7 PM TOMORROW NIGHT, FRIDAY 7/30/26, & in Cam 5:30-6:30 or 7:30 PM THIS FRIDAY NIGHT, 7/31/26.

Yes, I just checked & it seems you're still able to register for the TO training that's in a few hours, however I don't know how quickly 805UndocuFund is able to vet registrants for that.

My hugest apologies for being this tardy in posting this announcement, esp since you're supposed to RSVP for these ASAP so they have time to vet everyone before disclosing the training's location.

If you're on mobile you'll need to scroll down a bit at the linked page to find where you click to RSVP on a Jotform.

For those who don't know, the 805UndocuFund Rapid Response Network (805UDF RRN) is a local nonprofit currently best known for patrolling for ICE & also verifying reports of ICE sightings so people are warned of ICE activity via texts from the number 805-870-8855 (text ALERT to this number to join our texting list), but we also accompany members of the 805's undocumented community to stuff like doctor's & immigration appointments, do community outreach at local events, speak up against ICE & pro-ICE policies at city council, etc. meetings, and, hugely, take groceries & other necessities over to local families who've lost their breadwinners to ICE & | or had their breadwinners forced into hiding in quite logical fear of ICE.

Which means that there's a spot for literally everyone who agrees with our mission of opposing ICE, no matter your skillset or capacity for risk.

The locations of these trainings will only be disclosed the day of, & only to those who've been vetted by 805UndocuFund, due to safety concerns (our county's still home to a LOT of ICE lovers & the VCSO plus SVPD have been happily helping ICE by protecting ICE vehicles & letting ICE pick up any targets they have that are getting released from jail that day...the 805UDF RRN is, as stated earlier, an anti-ICE group).

My apologies that this location-disclosure policy makes these trainings horribly inaccessible for those who are like me (I can't drive) & heavily reliant on paratransit (which for those who don't know must be scheduled ahead of time) for being able to do stuff like this (it was a wild stroke of luck I was able to get Dial-A-Rides both to the training I ulitmately attended & back home).

ICE has been hitting our area pretty hard lately, so literally every single new volunteer is immensely welcomed in the 805UDF RRN.

We're also immensely appreciative of every single cent that gets donated these days as well...neither groceries or alert texts come cheap!

7-9 PM next Saturday (7/25/26) is a comedy fundraiser night at Jest for 805UndocuFund! Tickets, of which only 4 have been sold to my current knowledge, are $25 preorder & $30 at the door.

Link to read more & purchase tickets

The acts performing in this will be T$, Sally Andrew, Jake McMackin, & the Jesties.

805UndocuFund is a local nonprofit that works with the undocumented community of the 805.

We (I volunteer in 805UndocuFund's Rapid Response Network), among other things like mutual aid & patrolling for ICE vehicles, operate the Rapid Response Hotline (phone number 805-870-8855-this is a mobile line, you can sign up for text alerts by texting "ALERT" to that number) that people can both report local ICE sightings to & get info on local ICE sightings.

Thank you so much to Jest for putting this on for us!

This week's City Council meeting (Wed, 7/8/26) is the closest one to the 1st anniversary of the Glass House raids (Fri, 7/10/26). We need people filling the Cam City Council chambers to visually show our City Council how much their own constituents hate their continuing lack of action against ICE.

There is absolutely no requirement for you to speak or even be there on time-literally all that's needed is for you to physically be in the Council chambers where our City Council can see you (figuratively) standing against ICE's reign of terror in our city!

If you're attending this week's City Council meeting, it'd be wonderful if you wore orange &/or white bc orange is the color of the US immigrant rights movement (this comes from the monarch butterfly, which is the symbol of the US immigrant rights movement due to its regular migrations between the US & Mexico in pursuit of its own continued survival) &, for reasons I've forgotten, white is also linked to that (also, way more people own white clothes than orange clothes).

I volunteer with 805UndocuFund (we work with the 805's undocumented community) & our hope is that at least 340 people will attend this week's City Council meeting so that each of the fake butterflies we'll be bringing for people to hold up during the meeting to visually symbolize the 340+ people who were kidnapped by ICE in the Glass House raids (the Glass House farms in both Camarillo & Carpinteria were raided by ICE, who also teargassed, etc. peaceful protesters at both raids, on Thursday, July 10, 2025) to be given to their own person to maximize the visual impact.

& if you do want to give a general public comment, that period starts at 5 PM sharp & lasts for 20 minutes at the start of the City Council meeting-everyone who isn't able to speak in that 20-minute general public comment period has to wait until the end of the meeting to speak.

For a meeting like this that will likely have many general public comments, definitely plan to either arrive by like 4:30-4:40 to sign up in time to be assured you'll be able to speak in the meeting's 1st 20 minutes or stay very late into the night so you'll be able to speak at the meeting's end.

There will be a public vigil for the 1st anniversary of the Glass House raids at the Camarillo Glass House farm on Friday, 7/10/26 starting at 6:30 PM & concluding shortly after sunset at 8:05 PM. If you attend, please wear orange & | or black if possible. THIS VIGIL IS NOT A PHOTO OP.

Yes, this is the same text as my post about this in the VC sub...turns out you can't repost images into this subreddit.

Please note that the nearest restrooms are a 10-15 minute drive away from it, in the Outlets & Camarillo Target.

Also, please seriously consider what level of personal risk you are willing to take before deciding to attend this vigil or not, as while I personally don't think there'll be that much safety risk at this vigil (otherwise, I don't think we'd be encouraging the general public to attend as much as we are) there are absolutely no guarantees it won't be targeted.

Sadly, this is not a very accessible event for mobility-impaired people, & people who need something like a chair or another person will need to bring their own.

Yes, this vigil's an all-ages one as in there's no age requirement for attendees of any kind, however between it being very much a somber vigil without anything specifically for kids to do & its lack of accessibility including, again, the fact that the nearest restrooms will be a 10-15 minute drive away, this is not a very doable or recommended event for younger kids, especially once you factor in the implied behavioral expectations (again, it's a vigil).

Please plan accordingly & with a realistic view of what your children are capable of.

There will be real-time translation between English & Spanish, however it is still unknown if there'll also be real-time translation between English / Spanish & Mixteco.

Unfortunately there won't be any sort of visual reference for those who normally need that to follow along with audio, however all speeches, etc. will be recorded & posted online after the vigil with at least subtitles if not full closed captions.

The reason why attendees are being asked to wear orange & | or black if possible is bc orange is the color of the US immigrant rights movement, & black is the other major color on the monarch butterfly, which is the symbol of the US immigrant rights movement due to also regularly migrating between the US & Mexico in pursuit of its own continued survival.

Kicking myself after realizing I've been letting my Adderall pills (& Wellbutrin pills, & Lamictal pills) get too warm & thus fucking up how effective they are.

The box, which is a straw box, I store all my meds in, is kept on top of a table bc most of the day that table's the perfect place to store my meds.

Here's the problem: this table is right in the way of where sun enters the room from the windows and back door from about 6 AM until around 8:30-10 AM or so, depending on the time of year.

Bc I'm not normally up that early (delayed-sleep phase & genuinely feeling you're more productive in the middle of the night are a bitch, aren't they?) & suffer pretty badly from "out of sight, out of mind" lack of object permanence (being AuDHD is also a bitch & a half), it never actually crossed my mind that my med box might be getting a bit too warm in the morning sun every day until I had to be up & downstairs by 7 this morning to hang out with my family's pets bc of fucking course we're scheduled to get our door painted sometime between 7 & 3 the exact same day my parents are leaving town at 7 in the morning for a trip that'd been planned for weeks by the time we learned we'd be getting our house repainted in this 2-week period.

So at about 7:30 AM opened my med box to pull out my Adderall, Wellbutrin, & Lamictal to take my daily dose of them since I'm already up for the day anyway only to find that the bottle of Adderall I picked up that was closer to the sun-facing wall of my med box was perceptibly warm compared to my hand.

Not very warm, but warm enough to get me very worried I've been cooking my Adderall, Wellbutrin, & Lamictal enough that they don't actually fucking work anymore & I've just been skating by on the placebo effect-the placebo effect that now isn't there anymore now that I've realized the meds are likely ineffective due to repeated heat exposure.

& ofc I just in the past few weeks refilled all of them so I can't just get refills that haven't been cooking yet.

Really fucking devastated & infuriated at myself tbh.

I fucking hate this disability with every last fucking fiber of my being.

LGBTQIA+ Pride Month will be declared by the County Board of Supervisors at the Gov't Center in Ventura at 9 AM tomorrow morning, Tuesday, 6/9/26. Apparently last year only MAGAt protesters attended the county Pride Month Proclamation.

Managed to work out my bus rides from Camarillo so I could attend this.

Pride flag raisings on Monday, 6/1/26, at both Oxnard City Hall (8:30 AM) & Ventura City Hall (4 PM to 5 PM)!

Yes, I know I can't trim my screenshots to save my life.

Also still figuring out stuff like adding alt text to images I post on Reddit.

But I definitely want to attend both of these, even as someone in eastern Camarillo who can't drive (anyone up to carpool? I'd probably be able to swing taking buses at least TO the Ventura one, but the Oxnard one I'd need to carpool TO it & then would be able to take buses home-ain't our public transit here in Camarillo great? 🫠), esp since there might be an increased likelihood of anti-LGBTQIA+ protesters there who felt empowered by this current presidential administration.
