16 year old HP LaserJet P2035n auto continue
So I have a HP P2035n that I've had since 2010 in college. It's great, I love it, it's a beast of a machine and prints like a champ. Recently though I've noticed that it has a few issues when communicating with newer laptops. I'm currently running it as a network printer using a TCP/IP port and it prints just fine from my main home desktop (custom built from 2018, WIN 11, latest drivers, yada yada). On my desktop I tried using the WSD install method that Windows uses but there were constant issues with communication, (wouldn't send documents to printer, couldn't find printer, printer needed attention). My wife has a brand new laptop from work, (HP, WIN 11, limited access) and I have a new laptop from work as well (Dell, WIN 11, pretty beastly, I work with CADD). The laptops find the printer no problem using the TCP/IP port. The issue is that with the laptops, the printer doesn't auto print, I have to manually press the green arrow button on the printer. I haven't had to do that before (I had an older laptop from work that worked just fine with the printer). I have the latest drivers installed on both laptops and I've tried to do factory resets on the printer to see if there was an issue. I have the auto continue option checked in the printer configuration. I have looked online at HP forums and none have given me any hope. My wife is getting upset about having to manually press the button for each print job and threatening to just go and buy a new printer. Please help me save this printer so that it can give me another 15 years for our home!
EDIT: setting paper source from main tray to automatically select fixed the issue.
