Roast my choices
I liked Ramon Peña so I removed them and stuck with this. I’ve heard the La Curiosa truffles olive oil is iffy but I like truffles.
Never had ventresca but I do like tuna overall and I like scallops.
Give me some food ideas otherwise I’m just gonna eat them all straight from the tin like the animal I am.
A little baby cinnamon pearl
Little baby Hazel joined the flock as the final bird on Monday to make 3 little birdies. I’m unsure to their gender as they’re very baby but best guess is that this is a little lady according to my breeder.
She’s very brave, likes shoulders and gives the gentlest nibbles. Already preening me! I have them some pellets today and they happily took them in crushed form while the other watched so I gave them some and they started eating them! Baby Hazel teaching older birds to eat pellets.
They’re an interesting character but she’s adorable and I hope to see her grow big and strong.
Cohabitation
Sunny and Stormy had their first night of being in the same cage last night with no issues. I separated them for bed and they started called back and forth to each other so I put Sunny back in big cage.
I went to check on them 3 hours into their sleep and found them next to each other on the same perch seen here.
Today there were no issues and it seems like they tolerate each other enough to want to be together. What can I do to help make sure that they stay in each others good graces?
Meeting for the first time
Before Sunny came home, Stormy was quiet. He’d consort calls and little warbles, even copied part (albeit poorly) of the cookie song the same day we got Sunny.
IMMEDIATELY upon introduction, he burst into singing and one of the first things he did was cat call her. That was before this video.
I think he may have a bit of a crush on her. This was a short 5-10 minute introduction, they have separate cages and are in separate rooms for now.
Stormy and Sunny
Stormy and Sunny have joined the family!
Stormy is a regular grey who the breeder I got Graphite from gave to me at no charge. He’s a little worse for wear (no butt) but he’s a sweetheart and finally has one tail feather! He’s been with us since the beginning of May.
Sunny is a pearl luetino who just joined today. She has her own cage in my room for this week and we’ll move her into the bird room next week.
Stormy has immediately taken a shine to her as he burst into song and even cat-called her… I didn’t teach him that, little rat. Sunny is dozing in the cage now.
I unfortunately have not been able to find Graphite and there have been new sightings or new reports. I miss her but if by the grace of God she comes home, she will have a spot in my heart and our home.
Hi all,
Looks like my pet cockatiel got out… She’s in the Raleigh area. If anyone happens to see a cockatiel and comes to you, her name is Graphite. She’s very friendly, loves people and will probably nibble your ear or glasses. Seeds can be offered, regular bird seed is fine.
I know this absolutely a long shot but, one can hope, pray and wish.
Mods, please delete if this isn’t allowed. Just trying to blast as wide an area as possible. I will not be providing a picture(s) as pet scammers will come flooding.
Thank you
Filing under loss and mourning due to missing bird
Well my worst fear came true… Graphite escaped. She was with my roommate and from what I can gather is that my roommate was stepping outside the back door with graphite on the fridge, Graphite flew over to my roommate with the door cracked (don’t know how big the crack was) and she flew out the door.
I’m guessing something spooked her and she bolted out the door. I told my roommate from the very beginning that if she needed to step outside of the house for ANYTHING, that the bird needed to be put back.
It seems like she got complacent and then this happened.
I’m absolutely devastated, I’m beyond angry at my roommate but anger will not help the situation, she’s definitely taking this harder than anything I could say.
I have the cage outside with a speaker playing flock noises connected to my Mac (plugged in with a 12hr video on), walked the neighborhood and adjacent areas. I hope she returns but a hawk has been present in the area for a week or two.
Long shot, but if anyone here is in Memphis, around the Raleigh area, please keep an eye out for a cockatiel. Her name is Graphite. I’ve put out a missing bird on my local FB pages and about to post on the local Reddit.
Graphite, I really hope you come back. I really do miss you… please come home..
