New 17s vs old 17s

I really enjoy my scar 16 and I’ve saved up enough to buy a 17s I like that it’s light and that I would make it like a DMR. I’m just curious what you guys thinks better. I will probably suppress it if that makes any difference thank you. I appreciate it.

Mk17 Mod 0 build.

Planning out my mk17 mod 0 dmr clone and came across this reference image. Is this suppressor the Surefire Socom762-rc2?? Cause the old AAC suppressors and the newer ones for the mk20 are impossible to find. This would be a great third obtainable correct option but it’s hard to tell. Funny enough I actually planned on doing this optic combo as well

My take on a CSR-20

Hello everyone, I finished my CSR-20 concept build and just getting everyone’s opinions.

Also I don’t have any intentions of selling but what would you all think this would be worth?

It’s a 20 chambered in 6.5 creed non reciprocating bolt. All has been upgraded only thing that’s the same is the bolt carrier, sled, and bolt itself. Everything else has had my grubby paws on it.

I do have access to a machine shop and welding shop so the barrel was shortened to 15” and pinned and welded with a SF Muzzle break. A lot of fun and unbelievable accurate for a small compact package.

Also as a side note we had two Garmin chronographs out there pulling speeds they were never farther than 1 for off. Very impressive little unit.

Build list is,
FN20 6.5 Creed
15” PNW barrel with SF MB
Surefire Socom 7.62
Handl Lower It does accept AR10 mags
KNS adjustable gas piston but same jet size which is wild….
Super Scar trigger
PMM bcd, safety, stock adapter
Lingle front and rear plate and rear support plates
Sig Cross fully adjustable FOLDING stock
Leupold Mk5 3.6-18 Trijicon RMR piggyback
Rego delete panels slightly modified to make work
BCM grips
KDG charging handle
Atlas QD bipod
Couple other little things.
I think that’s it…

New Glass on the Scar 17

After lots of deliberation, I decided on the Steiner T6xi 2.5-15x50. If by far surpasses any NF or Leupold I have used. Currently running a mark 5hd on my scar 20. Glass is unbelievable and the dial system is by far the best I’ve ever used. Next is to rattle can the whole rifle. Should I match the color of the scope or go for a different pattern?

1:12 twist barrel or 1:7 twist for 11 inch chop?

I have 2 scar 17 barrels. I’m just wondering which would be better for short 308?

New SCAR 17S NRCH owner…few questions about suppressing.

Flowthrough cans seem to be the consensus on what to run, but I’m considering three different suppressors and wanting any advice or feedback.

HUX flow 7.62 sounds like the gold standard, but I don’t love the reports of it being super sparky. I’m also considering a CAT ODB or OCL infinity. Are these “flowthrough” enough for the SCAR? Any other can recommendations?

I plan to run a Discarder but I’m wondering if that’s all you really need to suppress and not destroy the gun? Is the return spring worth messing with and the buffer pad? Do you also need to mess with the gas jets if you have a discarder, and is changing the gas screw necessary? I’ve also seen the barrel shoulder is quite small, so is a shoulder ring a necessity to change the muzzle device?

Any other upgrades worth looking into to make the gun reliable while suppressed?

Thanks in advance for the help.

ZCO 4-20x50 vs Nightforce ATACR 4-16x42 for a tactical DMR build

I’m looking to replace my EOTech Vudu 1-10 with something more purpose-built for a semi-auto DMR role, and I’m torn between the Zero Compromise Optic 4-20x50 and the Nightforce ATACR 4-16x42 F1.

The Vudu has been good, but I’ve realized I’m no longer trying to keep this rifle in a “battle rifle / LPVO” role. This setup has evolved into a true precision-oriented tactical DMR, so I’d rather move to a dedicated optic instead of compromising around the 1x capability.

Host rifle is a SCAR 17 in .308, run suppressed with a SureFire SOCOM 762 Mini 2, with a KNS Discarder installed to soften the notoriously violent SCAR cycle.

The Nightforce specifically interests me because Nightforce literally positions the ATACR 4-16x42 as ideal for precision semi-auto rifles.

My priorities:

  • absolute reliability / durability
  • repeatable tracking
  • excellent glass in mixed lighting
  • forgiving eyebox from imperfect shooting positions
  • realistic tactical / field use rather than square range only
  • ability to engage from mid-range out to realistic .308 DMR distances
  • weight matters, but not at all costs

What I’m debating:

ATACR 4-16x42
Pros:

  • legendary durability
  • arguably the safer “hard use” optic
  • lighter / more compact
  • proven on semi-auto platforms
  • locking/capped tactical-friendly turret configuration
  • feels like the obvious SCAR choice

Cons:

  • older optical design?
  • less magnification
  • smaller objective
  • unsure how much glass quality I’d be giving up vs ZCO

ZCO 4-20x50
Pros:

  • everyone seems to rave about the glass
  • reportedly phenomenal eyebox
  • wider FOV
  • arguably the more refined premium optic overall

Cons:

  • less of a “duty optic” reputation?
  • heavier
  • larger
  • maybe more PRS/precision rifle oriented than true tactical DMR

Question for people who’ve actually owned both:

If you were building a premium hard-use semi-auto DMR and replacing a Vudu 1-10, which would you choose and why?

Bonus question:

Is the ZCO genuinely worth the extra money outside of a competition role, or is the ATACR simply the smarter choice on a SCAR 17?

SCAR 17 Magazine Restock - WOLFIE’S ARMORY

If you’ve been like me you’ve been struggling to get OEM Scar 17 magazines for the past few months. I know myself and many others have been nervous about Wolfie’s Armory but hopefully this can be your opportunity to get magazines without feeding the scalpers. Will update when magazines arrive. Fair price for KDG ACR stock

What's a fair price for a black KDG ACR stock? I have one in great condition. Gatewood has them for $850, but that doesn't seem reasonable for the used market. It will be on tacswap.

Beware of Wolfie's Armory

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up here. I saw a post a few weeks ago for Scar 17 magazines for sale and bought a few from Wolfie's Armory. I'm in Virginia and with the upcoming magazine ban I wanted to load up while I still have the chance. After placing the order I never even got an email receipt, having to take a screenshot of the webpage. After emailing several times trying to get a status update on the order without a response I find yesterday that they have several magazines listed on gunbroker for almost $100 a piece. Please stay away from these guys if you can.
