Why didn't China or Indian kingdoms 'explore' the world like European nations had? Furthermore, did this hamper both civilizations from becoming global powers, and ultimately left them behind Europe and become vulnerable to European imperialism?
AFAIK, both (at least south Indian kingdoms like the Chola Empire) had vast seafaring societies that participated in and protected trade in and around their regions. How come then neither looked for more places to trade with/find alternative trade routes like Europe had done during the Age of the Exploration?
