Which area of the UK should I consider moving to?

After experiencing a number of different life-changing circumstances over the last few years, and about to accept an offer on my house, I find myself in an unexpected predicament.

I don't know where to move to. No ties to job, family, schools, or anything else. All I know is that I'd like to move away from the town we are currently living in, in Hampshire - whether that's half hour away, or the other side of the country, doesn't really matter - to another UK location.

My kids haven't been able to access school for a while, so it would be good to find a local authority with a decent SEN/ASL team, as I'm about to start their appeals for support outside of school - though perhaps it would be better to find out which local authorities to avoid! Alternatively, a supportive home ed community would be good.

Somewhere semi-rural, or only a short drive from decent blues and greens. Supportive, inclusive community vibes would be a huge plus.

So far, I've been considering somewhere on the outskirts of Edinburgh, as a close friend lives there. Down the other end, I've also looked at Glastonbury and the New Forest. Had half a glance at Cornwall, too.

I'm grateful to have the opportunity to relocate, it's pretty exciting. I have been researching online - looking at houses, forums, social media, etc - and I've spoken to my wider family who are spread up and down the isles, but I'm finding it difficult to focus my research on any specific areas, having no specific anchor to narrow it down, so I'd appreciate some insight from you lovely lot.

Can you recommend, or warn against, any particular areas?

Relocating to Scotland with SEN kids

Afternoon all, I'm after some insight and lived experience, if possible please.

I'm considering relocating from Hampshire to just outside of Edinburgh, to be near friends in Dalkeith.

My kids (7 and 9) have both been unable to access education for a number of years due to unmet SEN. I am exhausted from battling the system here, only for nothing to improve - in fact, everything has become more difficult, and support has decreased overall.

I understand that their current EHCPs won't be relevant in Scotland. I'd like to find out what the process to request relevant support is, and how it actually looks in practise.

I'd expect there to be a period of home education required whilst I figure everything out and try to get some support in place, whether that be in a school or out of it.

Any insight would be hugely appreciated, but in particular I'm keen to find out:

-What is the SEN support like in mainstream schools?

-How easy is it to home educate? By that, I'm referring to the amount of red tape/restrictive policy.

-Does Scotland offer anything like EOTAS/EOTIS packages? (Education Other Than At/In School)

-Are SEN parents as profiled and demonised as they are in England?

Microdosing to reduce then quit ADHD stimulant medication

I have searched the group and seen a lot of conversations about the safety of taking both, preferred protocols, and choosing to MD over stimulants. But I haven't yet found the answer to this.

TL/DR: Has anyone found microdosing psilocybin useful for reducing/managing/quitting stimulant medication? If so, how did you approach it?

---

Background: Recently, I woke up to the fact I was in a long-term unhealthy relationship with lisdexamfetamine and dexamfetamine, in that I would often double my prescribed dose for 2 weeks of the month and then raw-dog it for 2 weeks until the new prescription comes in. Not fun, not clever, and not something I will be continuing.

For me, I know that life is better without stims. I stopped taking them entirely a few months back, and after a few horrendous days of low mood, I felt like a new woman.

In response to a bunch of socio-systemic failures colliding over the past month-ish, along with some personal urgent priorities, I regrettably started taking the medication again to "cope". Whilst I completed some important paperwork and met a number of unreasonable deadlines, the lack of sleep and proper nutrition have pushed me to my limit. And of course, nothing perks you up after a sleepless night better than more stims..

I plan to MD psilocybin truffles, and hope that they will negate the period of low mood. Do you think a straight switch might work, or more of a tapering situation?

Optimal bed position

I'm grateful to have found this sub today!

I usually locate the headboard on either the NE or the SW wall, but have placed the headboard under the window before, too.

SW wall is shared with the house nextdoor. NE shared with my son's room. NW backs onto boiler cupboard, airing cupboard and my daughter's wardrobe. SE obviously window.

King-size bed (L 205cm, W 175cm, but can be used in either orientation)

Do you have any immediate thoughts on where might be best to put the bed? I'd be gratefully open to answering any clarifying questions.

Thank you in advance.
