Anyone experience closing bid value different from invoiced?

My son bid on something last evening, the closing bid was $70 off from the invoiced amount.

He sent his screenshots to Hibid, but they said that the bidding was correct and gave some song and dance about the proxy bidding and whatnot. I'm not suggesting anything underhanded here. I suspect it's a software thing because their software has gotten progressively worse over the years, ever since they took away the boolean searching.

Anyway, I digress. Has anyone else had this happen? I've bought an untold amount on the site, but I've never really paid that much attention to the invoiced vs final displayed bid.

Do sellers still have access to a bidder's maximum bid? I don't often use a much higher maximum bid, usually just a few increments above, at most.

Dispenser recommendation

Current water cooler may be dead, no more cold water. I'm going to have a look at it once I get a chance. In the event I cannot, I'll have to get a new one. And I apologize for rehashing the general topic.

Looking under the following criteria;

Not bottleless. The well water tastes awful. The cats prefer bottled water. (They seem healthier, they're not that discriminatory).

Don't need hot water. Don't use it. You need boiled water for tea, anyway. Cats are very serious about their tea.

The cats use ice, but an ice feature just seems an unnecessary feature that can be noisy or prone to breaking

Fast flow rate. I want the water dispenser version of a fryer that can flash fry a buffalo in 40 seconds

Bottom load, because I'm lazy, it looks tidier, and somewhere for <random kitchen appliance> to sit.

Stainless steel preferred, black secondary, British racing green also a viable option.

A water cooler that cools water. Don't really need a fancy water temperature changer or, and this does appear to be an option, wifi

Thanks.

I've not heard the compressor for a while.
