Is it just me, or has the senior hiring market become a game of "Rules for thee, but not for me"?
I’m currently interviewing for Senior Individual Contributor (IC) roles. I have nearly a decade of experience under my belt, and I’m ready to hit the ground running. The conversation goes smooth until we hit the dreaded wall:
**The Notice Period.**
The moment I mention “60 days”, the tone completely shifts.
**Here’s the kicker:** Most of these companies literally have a **2-month notice period policy** in their own contracts!
How does this make sense?
The Company: "We need a 2-month notice period because our senior roles are critical and handovers take time."
Also The Company: "Wait, you need 2 months to leave your current critical role? Sorry, we need someone who can start yesterday.
It’s a bizarre double standard.

Has anyone else dealt with this? How are you all navigating the "Notice Period Paradox" without getting ghosted? Is the only solution to quit blindly and hope for the best, or are there still recruiters out there who understand how senior-level transitions actually work?
Let’s vent. Or better yet, give me some hope.
