Idk, just thought that was cool.

I can't even begin to put into words my anger and utter bewilderment to what just happened today....

I came home from school, today, and was surprised with 6 black Swedish ducklings and one blue swede. Now, we've had chickens and ducks forever, but only had pekins.

So, I was really happy, and my grandmother was, too; she loves ducks.

We left them in our kitchen with my granny's longtime boyfriend, Robbie, who's up there in age, too; hard life, not the brightest anymore. He loves them, too, and would never hurt them.

Me and my grandma left to go to an FFA chapter meeting, and I even won Star Greenhand.

The day was going great, school had it's field day, too.

When we came back, at about 10 pm, I came in and asked Robbie how the ducklings were doing. He says they were doing great. I see a light in the tub they were in, covered by the towel.

I go over.

I lift the towel.

I see 7 dead ducklings, burnt and fried under a powerful heat lamp.

I get so pissed, and so fucking confused, man.

Soon, after yelling, Rob gets really sad, and I can't even explain it. He would never do it if he knew.

What happened was, he put the heat lamp way too close, and they had nowhere to go...

The smell, the hot bodies...
Robbie drove to his friends, likely crying, man. Me and Nanny were just, amazed.

I know he didn't hurt them on purpose, I don't hate him, but goddamn, he knows those lights burn hot.

I just need to forget this for a while, man. We both know he will make it up, but, it's not the same... They were so healthy, and small.
