Defender of the Faith or Defender of Faith? Or both?

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/jul/06/king-charles-traitor-britain-religious-right-defender-of-all-faiths

This is an interesting article about the relationship between HM King Charles III and questions of faith - although I think it gets a bit silly when it compares Christian denominations to brands of drink.

To be honest, I don't believe that there is an incompatibility between the two positions. The King is Supreme Governor of the Church of England, and so he has a special relationship with Anglicanism, but that does not preclude respecting and working with other Christian denominations and other faiths.

It is worth noting that the C of E is only established in England. The King is a member, but not Supreme Governor, of the Church of Scotland, which is Presbyterian, and there is no established Church in Wales. The Commonwealth is a multi-faith body.

The King has a longstanding interest in interfaith work and understanding the many religions practised by Britons. He has been a steadfast friend of the Jewish community in Britain, as well as working with Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and others. He is interested in the Sufi tradition within Islam, which is characterised by tolerance and a focus on the inner life, a contrast to extremism and fundamentalism. At the same time, he is a practising and fairly traditional Anglican, who also acknowledges the influence of Orthodoxy.

On a lighter note, the name Reverend Ravi Holy is absolutely priceless and it is not a pseudonym! I remember stopping off to look at his church when I was on a country walk in Kent some years ago. Very nice place.

Monarchism at threat in Hungary due to recent governmental actions!

Once again Monarchism is at threat in Hungary due to the actions of the new government and their actions. Recently it has become more and more obvious that the statements made by the newly formed government talking about supporting the cause or at least being tolerant of differing views have time and time again been proven to be nothing more than lies, once again this is the case.

Over the last few months, the MTE has been observing the situation carefully and has analysed the actions of the new government related to monarchist ideals and the situation is concerning to say the best. The new government has already vowed to remove the "vármegye" a historical term for county in Hungary from the times of Saint Stephen, which were brought back in 2020 for the 100 year anniversary for Trianon to commemorate the history of Hungary as an inherltyly traditionalist and monarchist nation. As such, the new government has become the second government in Hungarian history to do so, the last one being the communist regime in our nation. They have not only done this action which is strikingly similar to the actions of the authoritarian stalinist regime, as they have also set their sights to oust a legally sitting president of our nation thus once again being the second government to attempt such. This action was so severe that the European bodies responsible for constitutional integrity such as the Venice commission, have had to be involved and have started an urgent investigation into the matter. Furthermore, it severely impacts monarchism as the sitting president is highly sympathetic to the monarchist cause, which the president of the MTE can himself certify as he has met with President Sulyok before.

Lastly and most severely, they are now attacking and targeting Gerog and Eduard Hapsburg for their former and current diplomatic positions such as Gerog's head ambassador position at the Hungarian consulate in Spain. You may thing that this is because either of them has committed some crime but it isn't. They are being targeted only because of having personal discussions in private with individuals on the opposing side of the political spectrum of Hungary which they are in their right to do so in their personal life. Not only that, but the vast majority of the supporters of the new government have been trying everything in their power to discredit and attack monarchism in Hungary, showing that those supporting the Tisza regime are not compatible with a monarchist, traditionalist and sovereign Hungary which a monarchical restoration would result in.

It is clear that the current government has never been in favour of monarchism, in fact it has always aspired to eradicate it as they see the Hapsburgs and monarchism as a threat to their power. It is time for monarchists to unify behind only their own banner and the Hapsburgs instead of any other force and aspire to support them in regaining their rightful throne!

One God, One Nation, One King!

Portraits of the grand Ducal couple in shop windows

I was recently in Luxembourg and saw that many shops have this exact picture in their shop windows. Is this a thing they do for turists? Or do they just genuanly love them? I don’t doubt either and in fact think it’s a combination of both.

Questiosn regarding Bonapartism.

Can Bonapartism be considered Monarchism?

Can it be called "revolutionary monarchism"?

What makes it superior or inferior to old-type Monarchies?

How does Bonapartism differ from modern right-wing populist regimes that also rely on plebiscites and charismatic leaders?

is it dependent on the original charismatic leader too much? can it survive outside it?

Must the monarch be a member of the House of Bonaparte to be a Bonapartist?

Can it work in countries other than France?

Where does it stand in economic scale?
