Lower Bowns Reservoir
Had our family trip this year out to Lower Bowns for a few days. Fishing was fun and just great to have the kids outdoors with me.

Crappie have been on my bucket list for some time now. I recently found out the DWR stocked them in one of our local reservoirs. Some of the locals have been nailing them like crazy this spring. So I had to head out there and check it out. Me and a buddy spent 4 hrs sitting 10’ off the shore in the same spot and easily caught over 100 each. They’re not yet sized to be keepers, but the bite was consistent and fun. Caught nearly every cast. We Had to convince ourselves that we needed to go home and get a few things done instead of spending all day on the water (adulting 👎🏻)
I Got out for a few hours this morning before the wind got a little annoying. Fishing in the Four Corners region of Utah. I was Only able to get this one into my hands. I Hooked up a few others that spit the hook or broke my line before I could get a scale on em. Still good times to be on the water.
Coming back from a trip towing camp trailer and my truck had something pop and goes into low power mode and kicks the check engine light on and kills the exhaust brake.
Only a few miles out from home drive it back into town on low power and park it.
Took it to the NAPA store and had the engine code read. It says: The P0747 code on a Duramax indicates that Pressure Control Solenoid A is stuck on, often causing the transmission to default to 5th gear and reverse.
Researching says: General Motors issued a special service bulletin and extended warranty (Special Coverage #N242454441) covering the repair on many 2020–2024 trucks
Luckily I contacted Chevy and they came and picked it up and took it to the nearest dealer to get repaired. Gonna be a few sad days without it and a few trips now in the old Tahoe I have sitting around. I guess this is such a common issue I’m told with the Allison transmission that they didn’t even ask questions. Just told them the code and they set up the pickup and said they’d be there within the hour to get it and take care of it. I love good customer service.
Picked up a 1/2 a rope yesterday in Hog 4 where someone obviously put a stopper knot on the rappel side and forgot to take it out before pulling. Rope was cut at a point they were probably able to reach it - funny enough it was tied off with a knot on that end as well. Guess they didn’t have ascenders with them. It was a great learning experience for our class to see this. Anyway, Not sure it’s worth anything to anyone to get it back, but hit me up.
