How to test this experiment out in the real world?

A lot of people I’ve spoken with and work with are interested in this but obviously death is too severe to realistically test this out. What are fun punishments that willing participants would agree to do? With my girlfriend we have similar bets the first to lose we do something random like eat a whole tomato because I hate tomatoes. Does anyone have any suggestions for what a punishment should be in this hypothetical?

Delusional Martyrdom

I would press blue because if there’s even the slightest chance of that vote making the difference, I would do it. I am not offered many chance in life to easily sacrifice myself for others, and if it were as simple as pressing a button that could have the slightest chance of saving people I would do it, even if knowing the majority of people would press Red. I know in versions of the hypothetical there are people incapable of making rational choices ex babies or those with dementia/mental disabilities, and in some versions it’s only people capable of making an informed decision. It is undeniable that some people will choose blue after thinking rationally. I’m aware it could be functional suicide disguised as sacrifice, but I would still do it. Does anyone else have a similar mindset?

Can you state as an absolute certainty that you can’t create something from nothing, and that reality has always existed?

I’m sure this question gets asked all the time on here sorry if this is against the rules.
But I’m unsure when people are discussing this if they’re able to state it with absolute certainty, or just from an intuitive standpoint they fully believe it. Like for the big bang, was it absolute nothingness before? Or is reality more of a loop of sorts like there has always been matter and energy as we know it?
The way I see it we can have strong intuitive guesses but there is no way to know 100% for sure and I’m leaning more on the side that we were in a state of nothingness and reality somehow spontaneously was created, but I can understand both sides.

Edit: I just saw the auto mod comment saying this isn’t an open discussion subreddit sorry if this was the wrong place to ask

Actual experiments as closest as possible to the dilema

Im looking for actual studies/experiments as close to the dilemma as possible. We can do polls and ask people what they think they would do in that situation, but there will always be the mismatch of what ppl think they would do vs what they would actually do. I found one of rats in the closest scenario possible to the dilemma but I want to find something as similar to the cost being humans dying. If anyone has any actual studies even if the consequences are less than humans dying, please share
Also I don’t mean to be rude but when I post on Reddit I get the most unrelated comments possible 😭 This isnt meant to offend anyone but please only comment if you have a link to share that is of a study/experiment relating to this

Will you be judged if you use AI?

If someone uses AI as a learning tool and to answer random questions that they have, will other people dislike them for that? I work 2 jobs and have a lot of classes and sometimes im way too busy to research in depth on what I need help with and it saves me a lot of time, and a few other people do the same but I’m aware people might judge me for that. I also want to clarify I don’t use it to create anything, just for learning more and quicker.

Edit: To specify my specific use, I use it for math questions. I work as a private tutor for college/uni level courses and am taking them myself, and roughly 95% of the content I see I’ve mastered myself, but when I see a question I haven’t done before I use AI to show me how it would be solved and learn based on thar solution after verifying if it’s correct. It saves me a lot of time when theres hundreds of questions to do

Edit 2: This has been a great discussion, thank you so much for everyone who contributed I genuinely learned a lot. Alas I must go to work so I most likely wont be replying to comments but if I get a chance in the future I will read this and see if theres anything interesting

I made a post yesterday detailing a hypothetical where you earned 1 million dollars everytime you made an identical clone orgasm, and someone made an interesting comment asking if it was incest or masturbation.

The clone is identical to you in every way, except for the fact that they are aware they are a clone. They have your memories, exact body type, turn ons, everything, except for the fact that once they are created they will know they are a different person living a different life but they have the full memories and mind you have.

Is it incest if you have sex with them? Or would it be considered masturbation? Again this is purely hypothetical this is not a real situation

Edit: I want to clarify this is purely hypothetical but I absolutely love the arguments for both sides this is such an interesting topic to me

EDIT - HYPOTHETICAL #2: Im going to ask this here because I don’t want to spam the subreddit with these, but lets say the hypothetical is exactly the same EXCEPT the clone is now the opposite gender. Does this change anything? If you are commenting abt this one specify its hypothetical #2

FINAL EDIT - As one user commented and explained, it’s neither. It’s simply consensual sex, and that’s where I stand on this. I will still be reading replies but I might not reply to everything now

I recently converted a few months ago, and I have not read many pages of the bible fully, I would say less than 50. I feel so guilty because I get so invested in every single line seeing what it truly means, it takes me an hour to fully analyze and understand a single page. I’m worried I’m enjoying it too much as a literary analysis, how can I read the bible without feeling like that? I enjoy it so much but I want to read it because I want to be connected with God but I keep getting obsessed with how beautifully it’s composed how beautiful the story of Jesus is (im starting with the new testament), how beautiful all the cross references are, how do i deal with this?

An identical replica of you shows up to your front door. They are fully sentient, and think the exact same as you, the only difference is he is aware he is a clone and of the deal, otherwise identical. Every-time you make them orgasm within a 24 hour period, you will receive 1 million dollars. How many orgasms are you shooting for? What is your plan? If you are a male, how will you account for the refractory period? If you are a female, every single orgasm counts, including back to back ones. You also know exactly how to please them, as they would enjoy exactly what you enjoy in the bedroom.

Edit: Clarifying based on some comments, no one else is allowed to directly touch your clone (you could hire a stripper or anything of the sort but they cant directly touch the clone at all), and the clone cannot jerk themselves off. You have to be the one doing all the work to make them finish. Also I apologize for my use of “he”, this is open to men, women, nonbinary, every gender

For people looking to be the best or one of the best in their fields. Like who have an obsession with being the best and have undying dedication to their passions, not about any specific field but just obsession and dedication in general

If it does, this means that people incapable of making a rational decision are involved (babies, extreme dementia cases, etc) and therefore they will pick randomly. If it does, is it not the obvious choice that a significant portion of people will accidentally select blue, thus making the blue button the obvious choice to save them?

If it doesn’t, only likeminded and rational people are included, then red may be the right choice, but if the dilemma considers every single person I don’t see a single valid argument against trying to get blue above 50%

You are locked in a room where time passes normally on the inside but outside time is frozen, you don’t age, and all physical wounds will be immediately healed but the pain will be lasting. For every full minute you endure the most agonizing torture imaginable, you can ensure 1 full day of humanity experiencing absolutely no suffering (death, pain, heartbreak, everything). How long would you endure it for, if at all?

Edit: This is entirely optional, “if at all” implies you can just leave the room.
You will be completely fine physically after you leave but the mental damage is still there.

Saw a video discussing how Jeffery Dahlmer, when he was in jail, started attending bible studies and got baptized and fully accepted Christ as his savior. Obviously he was unable to commit any more horrific acts, and repentance and forgiveness is one of the most important things. Even someone as horrible as him, if he was true in his faith, could he still make it to heaven? Im curious on everyones thoughts on this

Edit: I want to say I truly appreciate how many comments this has got, as someone who was a horrible person before converting, just seeing everyone put in their thoughts and what the bible says it means a lot. This was sort of a random question but thank you to everyone who replied this is the most comments I’ve got on a post
