Riu Palace Bavaro

We arrived at the Riu Palace Bavaro this afternoon and I'm already convinced some people are just miserable complainers! Now, granted, we've been here less than 12 hours but so far the resort is beautiful, the food has been terrific and the drinks have gotten me sufficiently tipsy in about 8 hours! The resort is clean. We have seen people all day obsessively cleaning the main areas. Our room is clean and extremely spacious for 2 people. We have gone to the buffet (Taino) and Zen, the Asian fusion restaurant, and our meals were delicious! I know food is very much open to interpretation, but I really think those who say the food is bland and has no flavor have dead taste buds! The service has been wonderful and we are already having an incredible time! Now, I won't try to say it's been perfect. Our room had no power when we got in it, and the power to this wing (the main building) has gone out three times so far. But I did my research before we came and I know this is an issue in the D.R. because of the overloaded power grid. It came on pretty quickly (longest outage was 20 minutes and that was hours ago!) and I'm not going to complain about it because I knew it was a possibility. All in all, so far we are very happy with the resort and we are really looking forward to our week stay! But our 3 AM wake up call is catching up to us and we're headed to bed (at 9 PM! How sad!) Looking forward to what tomorrow brings!

Where My Hypermobile Teachers??

We started school last week and this has been our first full week back. It's Friday eve and I am dying!! I always forget how painful the first couple of weeks are! It got me wondering how all my fellow bendy teacher friends are holding up. So far I've had to brace my knee for a few days because it was feeling slippy and I've worn tennis shoes several days because we are allowed (yay!). I am also prioritizing sleep like it's my job and I'm leaving as much work at school as I can so I can rest and recover in the evenings. But, oh boy, my toes, ankles, knees, hips and lower back are NOT happy to be back! What are your favorite tips and tricks to surviving these first few weeks back?? 11 days until Labor Day break if you're American. Hang in there!
