Poppy experts needed

I really love poppies and have been trying to grow one for the last 3 years! I saw some orange poppies growing in an alley and thought, if they can thrive there with little-to-no care, how hard can it be? Turns out, hard (at least for me).

I really want a purple bunch like the picture. Should I plant now or get a starter bush in spring??

I had a small starter plant but I didnt water it enough. The space for my poppy now has irrigation and will get daily water - I also heard this is key.

Movies you love that didnt hit the zeitgeist

This sub seriously has such good recommendations. Wheres our Pacey/ex movie store clerk because I have another movie question!

With all the John Leguizamo/Odyssey talk, I was recently made aware of To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar. Like, I've never even heard this referenced and I feel like its a major cultural miss for me and I must watch immediately.

So the question is:

What are movies that you love that dont get talked about enough or didnt hit the zeitgeist. No genre restrictions - they can be camp, sad, scary, romantic, etc

Here's a few on my list:

Brokedown Palace: young Kate Beckinsale and Claire Danes traveling in Thailand and trouble abounds. This was a sleepover staple for me.

Wish Upon A Star: young Katherine Heigl in a sister body swap movie. LOVE a high school low stakes romp

Looking for new shed/greenhouse professional advice

For my next project, I'd like to replace the shed in my backyard and add a greenhouse component.

Im looking for someone that could help steer me in the right direction making some decisions and plans. Perhaps you're a landscape designer or just someone with a lot of personal experience, either way, I'm happy to pay for your time!

Heres a little more info:

Current space is gravel and weeds and faces my ally. This structure could help provide more privacy in the back. Im open to a concert slab or some sort of foundation based on the structure

I do need a new shed as the current structure has seen better days.

Im interested in a greenhouse component for plant starts but I've learned from this sub that its very challenging to regulate the temperature in our climate. THIS IS THE PART WHERE I NEED THE MOST GUIDANCE.

Should I have a grow situation set up inside a traditional shed? A little plastic greenhouse on the side? A combo shed/greenhouse kit, like the photo?

As for the build, I'm looking at kits but not opposed to a plan + build scenario (I've seen design plans on Etsy for example)

Will take any and all advice and again, happy to compensate someone to help me make the plan to get the best bang for my buck and make the most out of my space!

Inspo from Minneapolis: singles meetup for invasive species plant removal (tree of heaven)

I see a lot of people here asking for ways to meet people so tossing this out for inspo.

Minneapolis started a singles meetup to remove buckthorn in a local park.

Sister spotted a flyer at a local coffee shop and figured it was a very niche group but according to the story, 50 people attended the last meetup.

Maybe someone wants to start a group for Tree of Heaven removal! Or something else!

I'd def go to a meetup but don't have the capacity to organize at this time.

Movie recs: summery beachy cabin cozy vibes

Because the pod recs were so good, heres my latest ask.

I'm looking to capture a certain summer vibe with a movie night and looking for ideas! I feel like the movie I'm thinking of is right on the tip of my brain and I need help unlocking it OR finding some new faves.

Here's what's currently swirling around in my mind.

The summer girlhood story: Now and Then, Babysitters Club, mayyybee Aquamarine

Hamptons beachy situation: Somethings Gotta Give, the Hamptons ep of SATC, mamma mia would fall under this vibe but that isn't one of "my" movies ya know?

Other things that are hitting this vibe for me that dont fit a category above

Almost Famous: what you watch on a Sunday night after a long cabin weekend

Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliette: idk I think I might just have an itch to watch this

As you can see, have the nostalgia theme here but also open to new movies that capture the same feeling.

Fuckettes, I wanna hear what you watch in the summer

Newbie: Two questions - selling online + texting group

I've been a lifelong thrifter/treasure hunter and recently decided to start selling some of my finds. Im just doing fbmp right now but thinking of listing online.

Here's my question: whats the best platform to start selling online? Im sure its ebay, but its really intimidating to me. Seems like a lot of admin and the shipping part seems hard. Ive sold clothes on poshmark and I like that they give you a shipping label. Thoughts? Advice??

Second question: I want to start a group for my locals when I go to an estate sale and think others should check it out. Thinking signal or whatsapp. Something where I can easily add people, share images easy, etc

The photo is a crab plate im coveting

Looking for some new podcast recs - can we share what else we listen to fuckettes

Im needing some new pods in my rotation. Im down for weeklies or old seasons/series. I'll go first.

Origins by James Andrew Miller: has a season on the making of SATC thats very fun and a season on the making of Almost Famous. Loved both!

Hot Takes and Deep Dives: chelsea and lauren were guests on this back in the day. I haven't listened in a while but I liked the host

I enjoy a rewatch pod so I've done Buffering, Binge Mode, The Boiler Room and a few others adjacent with The Ringer but down for more. I wish I liked the Girls Rewatch pod better because I love those shows but I dont vibe with the hosts as much.

Im mid on Las Culturistas and Ride. I was late to both of those and there are SO many ads it drives me crazy.

BTW, I'm a Patreaon subscriber for every outfit and im thrilled to spend $5/month to get an extra episode! #thisisnotanad #imnotaplant

Ok thanks!

Hanging flower baskets - where the deals at?

A neighbor has this stunning hanging basket and now I'm inspired to get some of my own and I'm fully prepared to take on the watering duties!

Ive seen huge gorgeous arrangements like these at City Floral but they are $150 and ideally I would like to spend less.

Where are the deals at?? Slide into my DMs if you dont want to reveal your secret low-cost source for fear of seeing price increases!

Psa: I dont need my baskets to be this big and glorious, just something pretty and reasonably priced so that if I do lose my watering motivation, I dont feel too bad about killing it!

Upholstery options - am I crazy

Reupholstering my dining chairs! I found this tiger strip fabric that is kinda greenish/gold. There isn't enough to do seats and back so I need an option for the backs.

Im thinking option A: is the pattern maxing too crazy or fun?

Option b is a green velvet that matches the stripes.

Sharing the rest of my kitchen/living space so you can see a sense of my style. I do enjoy the bold, funky, maximalist vibes!

If you have other fabric ideas - colors, patterns, inspo, I'll take it!!

I want to plant a fruit tree - give me all the advice

First off I want to say how grateful I am for this community. I know all this info is technically available on the internets but I so appreciate the advice from real people!

Celebrating my two-year house buying anniversary by planting a tree! (Took me that long to get around to it but better late than never right)

Here's my questions:

Is it too late to plant? Ive been told no.

I'd like a fruit tree. I REALLY want a fruit cocktail tree - one that grows different varieties of fruits. Anyone have luck with them here?

If I cant do fruit cocktail, I think I've settled on peach tree but you could convince me of another option if youve had good success.

Where should I buy it? I missed the DUG trees. Ive heard costco is good option but Im not sure if they are in stock. I've also heard good things about fastgrowingtresss.com but when I try to search for things in my region, it still says they cant ship to CO - probs user error

Anything you'd do differently if planting your tree again?

The area im planting faces east

Moved a lot of rocks to build this and don't want to fumble the project on the last step. Anything youd change about placement before I fill it in? This faces east.
