Advice on Expanding Hybrid Setup
Looking for advice on expanding my Sungrow solar setup
I currently have a 10 kW Sungrow SH10RT hybrid inverter with a 16 kWh battery, and I'm looking to expand the system. I'm considering three options:
Add another hybrid system
Can I add a hybrid inverter from a different manufacturer, or would it be better/necessary to stick with Sungrow?
Add more batteries to my existing system
Sungrow has released newer battery models, and I'm not sure whether they are compatible with my older SH10RT setup. The downside is that I can't add more PV on this inverter, so not really ideal. Has anyone successfully mixed/expanded batteries on an older Sungrow system?
Add an on-grid inverter in parallel
This seems like the cheapest option, especially if I add another ~10 kW of panels. However, I'm concerned about the current/future government net-metering/net-billing policies and whether adding an on-grid inverter makes financial sense.
I'd appreciate advice from anyone who has expanded a similar setup. What would you recommend, and what are the pros/cons of each option? I'm particularly interested in long-term reliability, battery compatibility, backup capability, and ROI under the current Pakistani electricity/net-billing situation.
Lastly, do I need to get further approvals from KE of I expand my setup?
