How to move crested gecko that doesn’t want to be handled?

I’m moving to college soon and I want to move my crested gecko to a temporary enclosure when I’m moving and also to finally clear out the paper towel I had gotten her on.

She doesn’t let me handle her yet, we’re making progress but it won’t be done in time before I move out. I was thinking of taking out the clutter the night before and putting her temporary carrier in the enclosure with bugs to entice her inside since she won’t let me carry her to out her in their directly. Would this work?

First Time Handling - Moving the enclosure?

I’ve seen a lot of advice online where people recommend handling your new crested gecko in an open environment like a table or in a room where they can’t easily get lost. I keep her in my bedroom which is a very small and cluttered environment and I’m worried if she runs away she’ll be very easy to lose.

While she’s sleeping, would it be ok to move my tank to my more open living room for the purposes of attempting handling? Just so I can have her in an open space where I’m more confident she won’t be able to get lost in clutter even if she jumps further than I expect or anything.

My worry about this is that she might be uncomfortable with the new surroundings since she’s used to looking out into my room, I’m not sure if that would affect a gecko.

(For reference, it’s been 3 weeks since I’ve had my gecko, Tiamat. She’s 11 months old. I’ve made sure she’s definitely eating food as well)

Handling Times?

I’ve seen plenty of videos of people handling their geckos when it’s light out. My gecko, Tiamat, doesn’t move and inch during that time. Are other cresties just more active during the daytime than mine is? Or are they waking them up? Is it ok to wake them up or should I only wait to handle her until 9-10pm when she wakes?
