Facebook Marketplace Gem! [Sony DSR-PD150]

[Fourth times a charm writing this do not update to the iOS 27 beta ☹️]

A few days ago I was scrolling through facebook marketplace and came across this gem. It had been listed for over a year, but I shot the seller a message to see if they still had it and they did!

Yesterday I finally met up with the sellers which were a super nice older couple who run a ministry in northern Delaware.

This thing is spotless. Not a scratch anywhere aside for the lens hood having a few rub marks from the case foam that rub off with your finger. Everything on this camera works flawlessly. Supposedly it lived its life on a tripod in an AV room hidden away from dust and sunlight. Then it got stored in the nice metal crate in the same room until I got my hands on it.

The deck has super low (to me) hours just shy of 300 hours. This camera is the best condition one in my collection, albeit my collection derives from Goodwill and the depths of the eBay sea of untested.

I had paid $300 for it. Personally I feel like a got a great deal. With the case and all accessories it came with, plus being able to use it the same day I got it, I am ecstatic!

I’ll have footage up soon from it. I’m currently working on an IDE HDD to SD card swap for my FireStore and actually don’t own any DV tapes yet.

The only gripe I have with this camera is that it doesn’t have any controls on the top handle like my XL1, GL1, and 2 do. I love that Canon has that but Sony DVCAMs have been calling my name.

(Also ignore the scratched up battery. It’s a Wasabi that was originally bought for my Mavica that was just a tad too thick which I sanded down to fit. I plan on getting more batts soon!)

Footage with my XL1S Paired to FS-4!

After going on hiatus due to school I’ve finally come across spare time. My friends convinced me to head to one of the first large-ish car meets of the summer.

So glad I brought the camera!

Finally riding my pint after it sat since 2024!!

A friend of mine and his girlfriend wanted to buy my two spare pints a while back. She paid for hers but he said he’d pay me when he could. No big deal. They rode them twice and they sat in his closet. Well I asked for it back and have been doing what I can to rehab it. It was full of dried mud so I did a full teardown and clean of everything. Revived the battery from its hibernation (do not ask lol.) and got it to take a charge and balance thankfully. I then decided to give it a full repaint as it was covered in scratches and dings.

I’d debated what path I’d take with styling. Should I make it an 80s stoke board? Maybe a McFly special? I had decided to go to my local hobby shop as they were closing down and saw a model kit that was one of the last in the store. The Gulf Racing Ford GT40 #1075 or “Number 6” which competed in the 1968 24 Hours of Le Mans race. BINGO! I grabbed the kit. Grabbed the paint. Raced home and got to work.

I painted the rail covers, fender, front bumper, and axle bolt heads after they were tightened in separately. Got some new grip tape which I found to be super unique. Put on a new Hoosier treaded tire and did some custom letter painting to that and I added the decals from the car kit. Now it looks awesome, runs great, and is back in loving hands.

Beyond stoked wouldn’t even begin to describe how I feel riding again. I took a break and sold my boards because I was too scared I’d get hurt and have to withdraw from nursing school. Now I’m done school and back on the saddle!!

As a fan of old automotive stuff I directed my friend (who also took most of these pictures for me) with making an advert photo for it in the same styling as Porsche used to. I’m terrible with photoshop and Lightroom hence why I asked him to help me!

I hope yall like it! Maybe I’ll see some of you around Philly?

Finally finished my stormtrooper medic cosplay!

It’s taken me a couple of months to finish before fan expo Philly but I’m pleased to be able to wear it and have it all come together!

$30 Dell Precision T5500 Finally Running!

I’ve been on the hunt for an older optiplex or similar machine to use as a base machine for a Luna Server to play KSP with some friends. Lo and Behold Facebook Marketplace came in clutch with this T5500! It’s got 28gb of DDR3, an Intel Xeon processor, the disk drive works just fine, and it had a GT 760 gpu! For $30 I couldn’t pass on it and to finally get it booted and running is wonderful for me!

I was able to put a 160gb SATA HDD I had laying around in it and install win7 ultimate via Rufus. It handles the server client rather well and playing online is WAAAY smoother than when I ran the server on my old school laptop lol.

A lot of people that I know mess with computers are surprised that I wanted this type of machine for the reasons I do. It seems to do the job fine in the bit I’ve been running it and using the server on my main PC. Temps are okay and it’s not overloading anything from what I can tell.

P.S. I MISSED WINDOWS 7 SO MUCH!!! I feel like I’m back at my grandparents in the family room using this thing. All I’ve gotta do now is install a copy of Microsoft Combat Flight Sim and I’ll be able to relive a good part of my childhood!
