So I’ve been identifying as aromantic for a few months now (shout out to internalised a-phobia) and as asexual since I learned what the word meant, but I’m pretty sure I have strong feelings for a friend of mine (not romantic to clarify). I’ve known this friend for about a year and we’ve been very very close since the day we met at uni basically joined at the hip, the person I talk to the most and the one I would turn to in a time of need.

For a while before I stopped lied to myself about being not being aro I believed I had a crush on this friend but after them saying they see me as a best friend whilst discussing my rocky romantic past and their own romantic experiences, I turned away this feeling. However this same feeling had popped back up now that I understand what is.

I truly have no clue what they’d say to me if I asked them to be in a QPR and I’m also worried because they have a girlfriend of 5 years. However them and their girlfriend started off a poly relationship and when the other girl broke up with them they both continued to date.

I am an AroAce enby and also a creative writing student.
I’ve been looking at posts on this subreddit and seeing people looking for book recommendations and lots of discourse around how characters come across, I’ve been thinking about writing a script centered around a character discovering they are AroAce (gender identity/age still undecided for character), I’m just exploring avenues right now.
This is an important story for me as until recently I’ve been claiming to be allo ignoring the obvious signs simply because I couldn’t deal with it. (I’ve always know I was ace).

So I thought why not ask the people? What would you want from a story like this, what would be an interesting route to go down character wise.
