Teachers simply being good people if they can or teachers are one step closer to completely raising the kids
North Carolina asking teachers to step up to foster
In short, an overwhelmed foster system is looking for help and noticing teachers would be a good fit, being good with kids and all, for short-term placements. It's even advocated for by a teacher.
Now, good foster care is important, and those who open the homes are angels who want to make a difference. I fully encourage good people to consider fostering. And they're right: teachers are kind of a natural fit. And the focus is on short-term situations.
Yet, something about this initiative rubs me the wrong way: we need more foster homes and teachers are selfless people who are in it for the kids. Let's target them in a campaign!
I don't know. Again, fostering is a good thing. But why is this about the teachers?
